At GE Aerospace, we have a wide range of established Apprentice programmes  for Advanced Manufacturing, Supply Chain Business Degree, Business, Engineering, and Engineering Degree across our UK sites that we recruit for each year. Vacancies typically open in the Autumn for the following Summer/Autumn.

Cardiff

Business & Management 
  • Length of Programme: 3 years
  • Level of Apprenticeship: NVQ Level 3 / 4
  • Academic Requirements: 5 GCSE - A* - C   Including Mathematics and English
  • What you will be doing:  As a Business and Management Apprentice, you’ll spend three years rotating through several departments, where you’ll gain the skills and experiences needed to thrive in a business environment, gaining a Level 3 / 4 NVQ with the option of an ILM qualification.  
 
Engineering 
  • Length of Programme: 3 years
  • Level of Apprenticeship: BTEC / NVQ Level 3
  • Academic Requirements: 5 GCSE - A* - C Including Mathematics, English and a Science
  • What you will be doing:  Over a three year duration you will rotate through the repair, overhaul, and test areas of our business, incorporating Lean methodology in everything you do. Completing a Level 3 NVQ with work-based learning and assessment.

Engineering Apprenticeship

Length of Programme: 3 years
Level of Apprenticeship: SCQF Level 6
Academic Requirements: SVQ Performing Engineering Operations (PEO) at SCQF Level 5 OR Engineering Foundation Apprenticeship.
What you will be doing: Various types of engineering that support the overhaul process of the GEnxengine types. These roles include; overhaul mechanic, maintenance fitter, electrician, machinist, and welder.

Advanced Manufacturing Apprenticeship
  • Length of Programme: 3 years
  • Level of Apprenticeship: Level 3
  • Academic Requirements: 4 GCSE at C/4 or above
  • What you will be doing:  You will complete 4 rotations across the manufacturing areas whilst studying for a level 3 Advanced manufacturing engineering technician technical support

Test Technician Apprenticeship
  • Length of Programme: 3 years
  • Level of Apprenticeship: Level 4 (HNC/D)
  • Academic Requirements: Level 3 engineering qualification or A level mathematics and science.
  • What you will be doing:  You will study for a HNC then HND in General Engineering (Electrical). At work you will be learning to test our products and fix them down to a componet level


Engineering Degree Apprenticeship
  • Length of Programme: 4 years
  • Level of Apprenticeship: Level 6 (BEng Hons)
  • Academic Requirements: 5 GCSEs (including Mathematics and English) at grades C/4 or above​.  Minimum of 112 UCAS points via:​
    • 3 A-Levels at grade BBC or above (including Mathematics and another STEM-based subject e.g., Physics/ Electronics/Computing or similar).  OR
    • BTEC Extended Diploma in Engineering at grade DMM or above.  OR
    • Equivalent qualification with appropriate Mathematics content
  • What you will be doing:  You will complete at least seven 6-month rotations, working on Aircraft Power Systems, Displays Systems and Avionics Networking Engineering Projects.
    You will also have opportunities to develop your leadership, teamwork   and communication skills through a range of development opportunities.
    You will work towards an Accredited BEng (Hons) Degree in Electronic & Computer Engineering.
    This programme is aligned to the Embedded Electronic Systems Design and Development Engineer (Degree) Level 6 Apprenticeship Standard.

Supply Chain Business Degree Apprenticeship
  • Length of Programme: 4 years
  • Level of Apprenticeship:  Level 6 (BA Hons)
  • Academic Requirements:  GCSE Maths and English at C/4 or higher.  3 A levels C or above or HNC / level 3 qualification

  • Length of Programme: 3 years
  • Level of Apprenticeship: Level 3
  • Academic Requirements: 4 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or equivalent, including Mathematics, English and a Science

  • Length of Programme: 4 years
  • Level of Apprenticeship:  Level 6 (BEng Hons)
  • Academic Requirements: 
  • Grade C/4 or above in English and Mathematics, or equivalent

  • What you will be doing:  You will work within multiple engineering disciplines for design and manufacture, participants graduate with a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Mechanical Engineering from UWE.

Manufacturing Degree Engineer Apprenticeship
  • Length of Programme: 4 years
  • Level of Apprenticeship:  Level 6 (BEng Hons)
  • Academic Requirements: 
  • Grade C/4 or above in English and Mathematics, or equivalent
  • Minimum of 112 UCAS points via:​
    • 3 A-Levels at grade BBC or above (including Mathematics and another STEM-based subject e.g., Physics/Electronics/Computing or similar)​ OR
    • BTEC Extended Diploma in Engineering at grade DMM or above​ OR
    • Equivalent qualification with appropriate Mathematics content
  • What you will be doing:  You will work within multiple engineering disciplines, putting design ideas into manufacture. Participants graduate with a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Mechanical Engineering from UWE.
Supply Chain Business Degree Apprenticeship
  • Length of Programme: 4 years
  • Level of Apprenticeship:  Level 6 (BA hons)
  • Academic Requirements:  GCSE Maths and English at C/4 or higher.  3 A levels C or above or HNC / level 3 qualification
  • What you will be doing:  Throughout this apprenticeship, you will complete rotations across our supply chain functions, including manufacturing and planning & materials, whilst completing a degree in leadership and management. This will enable you to gain core knowledge of Supply Chain and experience a wide range of processes that contribute to manufacturing our propellers.

Hannah joined GE Caledonian in 2021 on a 3 year engineering apprenticeship programme and has since thrived as she continues to develop her skills in tandem with the aircraft engine overhaul process.
