The Lead Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer / Technologist will provide direction and assistance to work group in order to meet assigned objectives. In this role, you will work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning. In this role, you will:
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Execute, with guidance from senior engineering resources, the analysis, design, test, or integration required to define and support assigned components, assemblies or systems that meet business standards and program / product requirements
  • Execute with some guidance the analysis, design, test and/or integration required to support electrical and instrumentation components, assemblies and systems that meet business standards, practices, procedures and product / program requirements
  • Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers
  • Document and communicate results of technical data generated
  • Participate on teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives
  • Share engineering information and promote open dialogue
  • Prepare invention disclosures to protect the technology that provides a competitive advantage to the business
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science (or a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in an engineering, IT, scientific or technical position)
  • Minimum of 3 years working in electrical engineering
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
    Desired Characteristics:
  • Familiarity with design, test and analysis tools and systems
  • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and PC proficiency
  • Thorough knowledge of instrumentation sensors and their interfaces with data systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot and provide support of aircraft electrical, instrumentation and pressure systems
  • Knowledge of AC single / 3 phase, DC theory and electronic drawing techniques using AutoCAD and Unigraphics
  • Provide cost, schedule and tracking to substantiate assignments
  • Ability to fly aboard the Flying Test Bed aircraft(s), supporting test cell activities locally or at customer's locations
  • Ability to monitor and understand various analog and digital data acquisition systems used in the testing environment
  • Ability to gather requirements from GE program engineering to ensure all test requirements are met
  • Ability to meet, maintain and participate in company goals, initiatives for cost, integrity, compliance, vouchering and EHS
  • Proficiency with design, test and analysis tools used for the posted function
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of aviation and skills listed above
  • Licenses held in Professional Engineer, FAA Airframe and Power Plant and FCC
  • Aircraft engine test experience
  • Experience working with 747 aircraft
