Role Summary/Purpose The Welding Engineer / Technologist demonstrates leadership in communicating programs and processes for their technical expertise, driving improvements in both Engineering and Manufacturing. In this role, you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, execute objectives and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals. In this position, you will:
Essential Responsibilities
* Create Weld Procedure Specifications (WPSs) through the Procedure Qualification Record (PQR)

* Assure that the WPS meets all the requirements of the joint from Engineering and the code and specification requirements of ASME, API, NACE, and other Standards as required. Assure that parts requiring multiple WPSs have compatible stress relief times and temperatures

* Stay current with modern technology by attending various seminars and expositions and other applicable training

* Assist the shop in welding problems, including the dispositioning of NCRs as well as reviewing floor practices and welding techniques

* Assist Product Engineering in specifying WSs to meet the needs of the joint/fabrication

* Review customer quotations and/or purchase orders to determine the welding requirements and potential pitfalls

* Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting assigned projects

* Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures and provide timely communications on significant issues or developments

* Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
Qualifications/Requirements
* Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Science or other Technical Degree

Desired Characteristics
* Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems

* Solid oral and written communication skills

* Experience in the Oil and Gas Industry and Heavy Equipment a plus

* Knowledge of ASME and NACE regarding welding and material issues

* Working knowledge and use of Microsoft Word and Excel or similar program
