Role Summary/Purpose The Deputy Entertainment Editor for iVillage Entertainment is responsible for editing, writing and helping program content on this constantly updating entertainment vertical. This person will work closely with the Entertainment Editor and the rest of the edit team to plan daily editorial content.
Essential Responsibilities Responsibilities include:
* Conceiving, writing, editing and publishing online content, including frequent blog posts, slide shows, special features and more
* Conceiving and executing new video ideas
* Assisting and working with web producers/editors
* Writing promotional copy for web section's home page and sub-topic pages
* Coming up with ideas for editorial calendar and special editorial packages
* Researching and reviewing book excerpts for possible use on the site
* Monitoring online communities
* Building and updating content pages and tools
* Working with producers to maintain the site, fix bugs and implement improvements
* Pulling traffic metrics and creating reports as necessary
* Looking at metrics; understanding traffic patterns
Qualifications/Requirements Qualifications
* Minimum 6 years of web content, Internet or editorial experience
* Exceptionally strong writing, editing, and copy editing skills (a very strong copy-editing eye is a must)
* Minimum 4 years experience with daily publishing and online publishing tools
* Bachelor's Degree (Journalism, English or Communications preferred)
