Role Summary/Purpose The Environmental Health & Safety Generalist 5 will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In this role, you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
Essential Responsibilities
* Provide input to Site Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Focal Point and/or site management on various EHS issues
* Initiate and influence integration of EHS policies and practices into the business
* Implement / modify EHS programs and procedures to ensure company compliance
* Maintain an in-depth knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements
* Work with consultants and contractors on related EHS issues
* Modify and implement compliance tracking programs and record keeping systems
* Conduct EHS education programs
* Provide and determine alternatives for issue resolution
* Develop and work with site teams focused on EHS program development, implementation and improvement
* Measure progress toward successfully meeting corporate expectations
* Manage function-related costs across site
* Integrate EHS function with site operations
Qualifications/Requirements
* Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of experience with EHS systems)
* At least 3 additional years of experience with exposure to several EHS areas in a manufacturing environment
Additional Eligibility Qualifications GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
