Role Summary:
The Public Relations Manager will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives through targeted media relations and reputation management programs. This position will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional areas of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy for GE Power and Gas Power Systems.



Essential Responsibilities:
As the Public Relations Manager, you will:

  • Develop, implement, and recommend appropriate media relations campaigns and journalist management, including the effective allocation of the business contribution budget
  • Serve as a liaison of information between management and key Gas Power Systems business leaders and centers of influence, including effective responses to a wide variety of community relations issues
  • Directly support the Director of External Communications for GE Power and coordinate activities across the business groups
  • Manage the public relations team budget for GE Power and weekly operational rhythm
  • Manage public relations for GE’s Gas Power Systems business, including key trade media relationships and development of strategic external communications campaigns
  • Maintain an effective liaison with key government officials, both locally and nationally, representing the business on important issues
  • Position GE as a responsive company by handling communications and correspondence
  • Maintain awareness of key community issues and establish the level of GE presence in community activities
  • Develop, together with the Director of External Communications, a comprehensive KPI and measurement system, relative to targets, for media relations for GE Power
  • Support crisis and issues management as needed, including media monitoring and agency relationships


Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in all facets of communications (writing, graphics, production, special events, video, etc.)


Desired Characteristics:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or Communications from an accredited college or University
  • Strong understanding of media relations and journalist relationships
  • Established relationships with major business leaders, government leaders, and energy industry leaders
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to relate well to all levels of clients
