Role Summary: The Senior Staff Data Architect is responsible for creating data architecture technologies and standards across enterprise, including data architecture, automation and data governance to drive cross-functional horizontal outcomes. Deliverables include providing architecture for product teams, ownership of the published data strategy, as well as developing the vision for and technical architecture of automation technologies to eliminate complex, manual data-related development activities.
Establish and drive strategy and execution for published data across the GE data domains, partnering data and analytics leaders across GE to align on common standards and tech stacks
Develop a roadmap for GE's data execution strategy, including data acquisition, architecture, and integration for the Data Lakes, AWS and Predix
Provide Technical Architecture guidance to Product Owners and scrum teams for data product execution
Consult on new product ideas to recommend approaches and propose solutions that are cost effective and address MVP requirements for the business
Develop PoC solutions for complex business problems by working directly with product owners, functional analysts, and data scientists as part of an Agile delivery framework
Develop automated testing for code deployment
Select or introduce data technologies and optimize datasets for multiple data use cases, including operational, data warehouse, Data Lake, NoSQL, and IoT, and unstructured data.
Work across other data domains with other data leaders to leverage existing data models, influence strategy and drive collaboration across the enterprise
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, IT, or Data Analytics
5+ years of demonstrated proficiency in SQL

Demonstrates the initiative to explore alternate technology and approaches to solving problems
Skilled in breaking down problems, documenting problem statements and estimating efforts
Has the ability to analyze impact of technology choices
Skilled in balancing value propositions for competing stakeholders
Strong understanding of data architecture principles, including exposure to relational vs. semi-structured vs. unstructured data types and technologies
Experience working with data in Cloud-based platforms (e.g., AWS, Predix)
Perform proof of concepts on new data ingestion designs
Drive exploration of new technologies that could be introduced into the environment
Design ETL jobs using both built-in Talend components and custom made scripts in Python, Java, and Spark
Devise complex big data ingestion jobs in Talend for relational, big data, streaming, IOT, flat file, JSON, API, and many other data sources
Experience with writing SQL that is able to transform, pivot, and stitch big data sets, both relational and non-relational
Prove data ingestion ETL flows using message queueing
Optimize Talend jobs to reduce memory and storage consumption
Operate in Agile framework as the Enterprise Architect, creating user stories from and tasks from customer requirements to track project progress
