Essential Responsibilities: Design, implement and validate dynamic and operational control systems that meet wind product needs. Lead the development and enhancement of control algorithms that increase wind turbine performance, lower mechanical loading of the turbine, while allowing the turbine to run with high availability. Investigate and analyze complex controls issues occurring in the fleet of installed turbines and develop corrective actions. Establish first principle wind turbine control methodologies to improve overall system optimization and physics based understanding. Provide key wind turbine controls expertise through all phases of product development. Provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation and presentation of technical data to internal and external customers.
Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelor's degree, or foreign degree equivalent, in Engineering (any field) or Science and 5 years of progressively responsible post-Bachelor’s degree related engineering experience. Position also requires 5 years of experience with aero-elastic simulation tools (Bladed, FAST or Flex); 5 years of experience designing wind turbine or wind farm algorithms; 5 years of experience with Matlab or Simulink; 3 years of experience with wind turbine system dynamics and wind turbine aerodynamics; and 3 years of experience with model-based estimation techniques (Kalman Filters).
