Role Summary: GE Capital is offering a limited number of internship positions for first-year law students. The legal internship program will run for ten weeks during the summer of 2018. The interns will work on a diverse mix of assignments with senior lawyers at GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS). Based in Norwalk, Connecticut, Summer Associate will work with the GECAS Legal Department on a range of transactional, project and policy matters in the commercial aviation finance & leasing business.
Internships will vary in scope depending on the matters assigned by senior GECAS lawyers.
Internships are full-time for the Summer of 2018.
All internships will provide exposure to a range of GECAS matters, and interns will be asked to participate in various projects related to the organization.
For each assignment, the assigning GE Capital lawyer will provide clear deliverables and action items in advance and will be accessible for the duration of the assignment.
There will also be a number of professional development opportunities which will permit interns to network with other GE Capital lawyers, as well as their external counsel.
Bachelor's degree. First-year (anticipated graduating class of 2020-21) JD candidate currently enrolled at an accredited U.S. law school.
Minimum overall current GPA of 3.0 on a scale up to 4.0 (transcript will be required prior to commencement of internship).
Previous work/internship experience in a law firm, in-house legal department or other office environment.
Proficiency with MS Office applications.
MUST be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act. MUST be at least 18 years of age.
MUST be willing to comply with pre-employment screening, including but not limited to, drug testing and background check.
MUST be willing to work out of an office located in Norwalk, CT.
MUST be willing to work a minimum of 10 weeks between the months of June and August, 2018 (consecutive weeks preferred).
MUST be willing to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.
Legal authorization to work in the United States is required.
