GE Renewable Energy – Hydro Service Oceania Hydro Service Oceania is located in Hamilton - New Zealand, and Hobart, Tasmania – Australia. The group provides engineering, technical, refurbishment, upgrade, and maintenance services and solutions to our hydro power generating customers in the Oceania region.
Role Summary: The Generator Supervisor / Winder is required to work as a team member on hydro generator refurbishment and replacement projects. The Generator Supervisor / Winder reports to the Site Manager during project execution, and is responsible for supervising specialised trades executing generator inspections, refurbishment, new build and replacement projects. This is a site based role with work primarily based in New Zealand and Australia, however work in other overseas locations may be required.
Essential Responsibilities: • Supervise personnel performing work on: o customer sites, including dismantling, condition assessment, refurbishment, assembly, commissioning, and troubleshooting of generators. o the acquisition of data readings and measurements prior to and during dismantling o the dismantling of generators and auxiliaries with particular regard to sequence of operations, method of work, use of special tools and techniques and the safe handling and storage of components o Special tasks and techniques, for example generator electrical testing, bearing fitting, alignment and establishment of correct clearance o The acquisition of rebuild readings and measurements and analyse these for compliance with design, best practices and fleet experience o The re-assembly and rebuilding of the generator and auxiliaries and proper set up of parameters • Ensure compliance with all GE EHS policies and procedures • Perform administrative functions; such as preparing technical reports, preparing methodologies, ordering materials, obtaining quotations. • Ensure works are performed in accordance with GE procedures, ITP’s and Measurement record sheets. • Liaise with GE Hydro Lead Centres on technical matters related to assigned projects. • Respond to customer requests for emergency repairs and services to troublesome equipment. • Develop and further expand technical knowledge, expertise. • Maintain strong safety mindset to assure the executed work reflects the requirements of GE safety standards
Qualifications/Requirements: To be successful in this role you would possess: • Relevant Trade Certificate • Minimum 3 of years of experience working as a Generator Supervisor or Winder on hydro generator refurbishment or generator build projects. • Willingness and ability to travel to and work on projects mainly within Australia and New Zealand, with the possibility of other overseas projects as required.
