Baker Hughes, a GE Company (BHGE) offers the opportunity as a Production Chemist for our Upstream Chemicals Product Line located in Australia. This FIFO role will be embedded within an Oil/Gas Operation supporting various processes and chemicals applications.
Provide water treatment technical support to the BHI local team and operations
Embedded as part of the operations team - work on day to day issues and long/short term improvement projects to the LNG plant.
Responsible for monitoring and evaluating water systems and waste water treatment programs
Chemical/Process performance assessment
Sampling of water and process streams for general monitoring and troubleshooting
Reporting/trending from a production chemistry mind set
Clean in Place input
Chemical Management – inventory checks, forecasting, chemical deliveries and storage, ensuring products meet QA/QC expectations.
Monitor chemical injection rates and adjust accordingly to optimise chemical application processes
Handle special projects, as assigned (for example, providing SOP input)
Training/advising production engineers in production chemistry and water/effluent treatment best practices
Strengthen customer relationships at all levels
Liaise and communicate with account manager as required to ensure ongoing smooth operations of chemical injection systems during startup/steady state operations.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Chemistry (or other specialised process/plant qualification)
5 years experience in water treatment, effluent treatment in refinery/LNG operations
Chemical management experience – supply chain, storage and application in refinery/LNG
Possess knowledge in LNG plant operations
Previous FIFO experience
Good attention to detail with good analytical skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
