Role Summary: The Data Engineer will be responsible for leading, designing, developing and automating GE-wide Cyber Security and Technology Risk continuous monitoring solutions. Requires strong foundational skills and knowledge of relevant technologies in software engineering, automation and cyber security. You will be a member of an integrated team working to deliver successful outcomes around automation, risk & compliance and data analytics.
Essential Responsibilities: •Responsible for defining, developing and evolving data analytics and automation in a fast paced and agile development environment using the latest analytical and software development methods. •Design, build and launch new data extraction, transformation and automated remediation in production. •Support impact assessments and decisions related to automation, analytical choices. •Design, implement and optimize algorithms for improving Cyber Security & Technology Risk (Ex: Machine Learning Principles) •Partner with Cyber Security and Technology Risk teams to solve problems and identify trends and opportunities. •Integrate domain data knowledge into development of data and automation requirements. •Look across multiple systems, understands the purpose of each system and defines data requirements by systems.
Qualifications/Requirements: •Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent (STEM) with minimum 3-5 years of experience as data engineer. •A minimum of 2 year of experience using Scripting (Java, Go, Python or Ruby) is required •A minimum of 2 years of experience with schema design and dimensional data modeling •A minimum of 1 year of experience working with SQL and multiple large datasets •Ability to analyze data to identify deliverables, gaps and inconsistencies •Ability in managing and communicating data warehouse plans to internal clients •Communication skills including the ability to identify and communicate data driven insights
Desired Characteristics: •Working experience and familiarity with Information Security •Understanding of industry accepted Information Security and IT governance standards (i.e COBIT, ISO, NIST) •Awareness or experience with industry regulations (i.e HIPPA, DFARS, Export Control, PCI) •Experience with Java, Go, Python or Ruby with preference for Python •Experience with Relational Databases (i.e. PosgreSQL, MySQL, MSQL, MariaDB) •Working knowledge of cloud provider security architecture design patterns •Familiarity with automation tools (i.e Chef, Puppet, Ansible or Terraform) •Familiarity with Agile software development •Familiarity of source control tools such as CVS/SVN/Git, with preference for git #DTR
