Role Summary: The Lead Field Service Engineer under general guidance and minimal supervision, performs a wide range of engineering tasks and ensures proper installation, service and commissioning of products and services. Provides technical support for installation and commissioning of projects and provides maintenance, breakdown emergency support and remote troubleshooting.
Essential Responsibilities: As a Field Service Engineer, you will: - Perform troubleshooting activities at site locations to diagnose problems, determine appropriate resolution, and implements corrective actions - Perform installation and commissioning activities at customer site locations - Be capable of working unsupervised and leading small teams - Under the direction of a senior engineer performs a wide range of engineering tasks to ensure the technical integrity and proper installation and commissioning of GE excitation systems - Develop presentations and provides training and instruction to customers on excitation systems - Provide continuous, 24 hour by 7 day a week, support in response to customer calls for service - Ensure appropriate response and service is provided to customer
Qualifications/Requirements: - Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university (or Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university with a minimum 5 additional years of related industry experience) - Minimum 5 years of field service and/or commissioning experience
Desired Characteristics: - Field Service and Commissioning experience with excitation systems. - Ability to execute increasingly complicated assignments, which require considerable engineering skill and creative ability and independent judgment - Possess detailed knowledge, competence and expertise with installation and commissioning tasks and services - Strong computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Office applications - Ability to learn and follow defined departmental policies, procedures and practices
