Role Summary: The Materials Leader will demonstrate leadership in master planning, materials processes and systems, production schedules, purchasing and/or logistics activities for Mebane inbound and outbound shipments. You will be responsible for team management, cost control initiatives, communications, and service performance.
Essential Responsibilities: As the Materials Leader, you will:
Ensure operational alignment with production plan and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Optimize inventory and process improvements
Coordinate and expedite the flow of materials (from suppliers and also within departments) according to production schedules
Plan and schedule material / production needs With the product line leader, provide team work direction and daily kick-off communications
Enforce and improve Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and compliance
Enforce and improve plant-wide cross-training for all material areas
Leverage GE tools, resources, and negotiated rates established through the Logistics Center of Excellence (COE) to select transportation carriers
Perform routine cost analysis and Interface with the GE Energy Management logistics team to identify cost-control opportunities; resource and implement effective projects to realize cost savings
Schedule dedicated truck, expedited truck, and other premium transportation as authorized by Plant Management; trend premium transportation spend and recommend methods to reduce cost
Develop and integrate processes that meet business needs across the organization and continuously improve operations for safety, efficiency, quality, and cost
Develop strong cross-functional relationships and operating mechanisms with plant managers, product line leaders, commercial team members, customer service, and finance Manage complex issues within functional areas of expertise
Update and publish operational performance metrics
Drive service performance and contribute to the overall business strategy
Provide manufacturing leadership in the developing, planning, and implementing of the master schedule
Lead activities that encompass detailed manufacturing plans and scheduling for assembly, shops, satellites, domestic, International, and Revenue Share partners
Act on all matters pertaining to materials, schedules, status, and inventory and translate, prepare, and assign meaningful and functional productivity plans to meet established master schedules for customers
Assist in the calculation of detailed schedules for equipment, materials, and manpower with respect to schedule needs versus resource capabilities
Work to control inventory levels, cycle time, machine loads, and other aspects as required to meet schedules
Interface between customer and shops for prioritization of shop load to meet customer demands
Interface with material input organization to assure realistic and timely delivery of hardware to meet schedule requirements
Lead the organization by establishing shop schedules that adhere to the Department schedule and support those schedules through the managed efforts of schedulers and coordinators
Develop, plan, and manage programs to meet GE purchasing commitments in Sourcing
Own complete purchasing responsibilities related to value stream(s)
Manage the complete purchasing and contract administration functions of low dollar / less complex hardware or services as required to meet program commitments Collaborate with manager in setting realistic and challenging operational goals
Coordinate all production teams' material status, production priorities, and delivery commitments
Effectively communicate to external sources, including shops and Revenue sharing partners
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college (or a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Manufacturing)
Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in Supply Chain Management, Production, Planning, Production Control, Sourcing, or Configuration Control
