Role Summary: As a member of the GE Additive team you will design and optimize process relevant components with regard to a thermally stable process environment. This includes carrying out thermal simulations as well as planning and executing experimental validation campaigns.
Essential Responsibilities: YYou will be a member of the GE Additive team working closely with our additive business units.
Your specific responsibilities will include:
Design and optimization of relevant machine components to minimize undesired thermal effects on the manufacturing process Prediction of heat generation and corresponding thermal distortions to machine components as well as heat exchange with the gas flow Design of thermal management solutions, heat exchangers and other solutions Planning and execution of measurement campaigns to determine the thermal properties of machine components and their influence on the CUSING process Close collaboration and coordination with relevant disciplines
Qualifications/Requirements: Masters in heat transfer or fluid mechanics Proven track record in the design of thermal management solutions from conception to successful transition into products Experience in thermal design, analysis and numerical simulation Experience with thermal measurement techniques and in conceiving, designing and carrying out thermal test campaigns Experience with electronics cooling, gas flow cooling and heat exchangers Ability to generate physics based lower order thermal models and design tools Fastworks mentality and customer focus Excellent communication skills Open and creative
Desired Characteristics: PHD in heat transfer or fluid mechanics Experience with additive machines Experience with fluid and mechanical analysis
