Role Summary: The Manager for this group has to focus on Software Verification & Validation for Train Performance products and Solutions. Familiarity of embedded platforms and Enterprise Software development is must. This role need to lead a team of Software & Systems Validation Engineers. This role requires deep domain depth, strong technical acumen and great people management skills. This role requires to coach and guide engineer to accomplish the business deliverable by Agile/waterfall process.
Essential Responsibilities: The candidate is expected to foster a positive, energetic environment emphasizing excellence, teamwork and execution, while leading, nurturing and maintaining GE Beliefs. This role is to ensure that the team obtains necessary competency to achieve functional excellence while simultaneously meeting the objectives and commitments of project deliverable. In addition, the Leader attempts to harmonize tools and processes used within team, works with program leadership team to allocate functional engineers across programs. The Manager should coach, mentor, groom and grow engineering talent. The essential responsibilities include: 1. Strategically Manage and deliver fully validated SW for various Programs & Requisitions on time on cost as per specifications. 2. Optimize and increase Productivity by incorporating testing automation. 3. Provide issue resolution & direction to all direct reports without escalating the issues. 4. Provide required expertise to all - prioritization & process methodology. 5. Drive software product quality improvements by continuous measuring & identifying scope of improvement. 6. Assist direct reports in setting goals and objectives and provide quarterly reviews with reporting of results to HR and the management team. 7. Work with Product Management and other teams to meet organizational initiatives. 8. Drive the center wide initiative in the team to create an exciting work place for the employees. 9. Driving a culture of excellence in Test & Validation technology development, compliance and integrity. 10. Demonstrate accountability in driving towards solution for technical problems considering resource & time constraints 11. Become an interface between the team and global counterparts to communicate effectively about the progress and accomplishments. 12. Participate in planning process for strategy on product technologies for TP Organization. 13. Demonstrated ability to leverage technical and commercial teams to identify and recommend technology strategies and product ideas for global and regional growths. 14. Proactive, assertive in upward and downward communication.
Qualifications/Requirements: · BE / BS / M.Tech / Engineering Graduate (Electronics/Electrical/Computer Science) from a reputed College / University / Institution. · overall 14+ years of experience working on engineering or software products with focus on validation. · At least 2 additional years of experience in managing team in a people leader role. · Minimum 5 years hands on experience on software/systems validation of Embedded Products with exposure of RTOS, C/C++, system integration, SW reliability. · Strong knowledge of Software Development Life cycle. · Expertise in Test Automation tools with focus on test cycle improvement and productivity. · Very good understanding of the software process/practices/Engineering design process. · Exposure to Agile methodology of software program execution.
Desired Characteristics: - Hands on Experience on Train Performance products - Has experience in virtualization of test resources. - Technical background and experience in DevOps. - Working knowledge of new product development & introduction (NPI), DFSS, DFR, & GE Tollgate processes. - Exposure to work with global customers & teams specially in Europe & North American region. - Demonstrate Leadership, communication, & interpersonal skills while doing day to day job. - Excellent understanding of System Design, Project Management & People Management in GE kind of environment.
