Role Summary: GE Steam Power Systems are expanding their procurement and buying team. We are currently looking for an experience buyer to manage the buying process for a given set of goods. In this capacity you would be responsible for applying sourcing policy, interface between supplier and entity with respect to specifications and budgets. You would demonstrate theoretical knowledge of the buying function as well as function skills and knowledge of relevant purchasing and sourcing concepts.
Essential Responsibilities: You will have a proven track record of purchasing and buying, working with tight deadlines within a close knit team environment.In this capacity you would be responsible for (but not limited to):
- Place and follow-up on Purchase Orders (PO). - Manage relationships with suppliers for PO execution. - Manage problems and schedule changes. - Update ERP. - Develops new solutions under guidance and/or in a team setting or based upon precedents in the organizations. Balance both tactical execution with strategic initiatives necessary to drive cost reduction projects. - Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to specify needs, communicates about project approach and presents outcomes of research done. - Provides technical / commercial assistance to Commodity Buyers to develop awareness of manufacturing processes and improve product knowledge. Actively participate in supplier performance reviews. - Provides advise to functional managers regarding projects, processes and procedures in the own field. - Contributes to project as a team member or leads small projects.
Qualifications/Requirements: To be successful in this role, you would possess: - Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma with at least 4 years of experience in Sourcing). - Additional 3 years of experience in Buying/Procurement. - Possess at least 5 years experience in procurement capacity and demonstrate experience in evaluating supplier contracts. - Demonstrate previous experience in SAP or other ERP system is an added advantage. - Previous experience within Power, O&G or other industry would be advantageous
