Role Summary: The test engineer is to provide interface between manufacturing, quality, and engineering groups to develop and maintain production test process, solve technical problems, and create/improve test solutions. You will develop and integrate processes that meet business needs across the organization and manage and develop testing solutions. You will also be involved in long-term planning and contribute to the overall business strategy.
The position is responsible for the locomotive commercial test planning and development.
Provides direction and support to Control and Locomotive COEs.
Scheduling, System troubleshooting, resolving unforeseen issues, promote customer satisfaction and develop positive customer relationships.
Must be able to make data driven decisions and utilize Six Sigma and Lean tools.
Develop, implement, and administer Online test plans to Accurately documentation all test procedures, specifications, results, and design documents.
Interfacing with Technicians, Engineering, Program Management, and Manufacturing to develop, improve, and adjust manufacturing testing equipment from development through validation is key.
Provide on going technical support to test personnel and PTAs to help them to successfully complete the required testing.
Planning, designing, assembling, and commissioning of new test systems Modifying software on existing systems and developing software on new systems using LabView, Visual Basic, or C++ and managing data to a database Driving continuous improvement, design, and expansion of the test systems to support growth of the business and new product introduction
A.S. Degree in Engineering or Technical Discipline with at least six years related experience
Experience specifically in electrical or electromechanical assembly and test.
2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
Familiarity with production test development applications and processes
Ability to work in a matrix organization across different channels and cultures
B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering or other Technical Discipline
Strong background in the interpretation of engineering drawings/specifications and manufacturing processes
Results oriented, self-motivated, adaptable and an interchangeable team member
Possess programming skills as applied to automated test, test instrument control, and embedded systems
Locomotive & Control manufacturing experience: specifically, in final assembly, test, wiring
Proven ability to safely troubleshoot complex system, subsystem, and component level issues with high voltage
2+ years of related systems or subsystems test of OHV, Locomotive, & Control manufacturing.
Proficiency in NI LabVIEW, TestStand, QNX, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Visio.
Experience using Wilmore
Results oriented and self-motivated with an adaptable attitude to become an interchangeable team member
Strong project management skills
Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills often involving internal and external technicians, engineers, quality, and suppliers
