Role Summary: The Manual Machinist III will be responsible to perform complex operation of machine tools to produce/fabricate precision parts. Applies advanced knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. Ensures conformance to specifications and continues production consistent with established procedures.
Essential Responsibilities: In the role of Manual Machinist III, you will:
Provide training and assistance to Level I, and Level II
Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements
Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining
Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tolls, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jib borers, grinders and shapers
Calculate and set controls to regular machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input or edit computerized machine control media
Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required
Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications
Be able to operate all machine tools as required
Use of advanced trade mathematics together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, all varieties of precision measuring instruments and multi-machine work stations
Work plans easily followed by other operators
High School Diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution
Minimum 4 years of Machining experience
Work overtime, weekends and holidays, as required
Work in a constant pushing, pulling, lifting, stretching, bending and other physical activities
Be in the shop environment a minimum of 8 hours per day, primarily standing and sitting, as required
Lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
Be subjected to extreme heat for extended periods of time
Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, dies, etc or similar engineering and/or maintenance experience. Able to adjust to new product line, Note: in-house
