Role Summary: GE Digital is seeking a Senior UX Interaction Designer to join the Enterprise UX team. In this role, you will be actively involved in creating useful and desirable software product and service experiences….
Essential Responsibilities: As a Senior UX Interaction Designer you will work with a UX team focused on SmartShop, a new software product for maintenance, repair, and overhaul for servicing industrial products.
This product is used to orchestrate shop floor operations across all our different businesses lead 1-2 user experience engagements, and demonstrate expertise in at least one specialized user experience domain.

In this role, you will:
Produce and guide effective documentation and communication of design - via wireframes, mockups, and requirements engineering
Acquire a mastery of Agile / Lean UX methodologies and work as an embedded part of an agile product team
Design and conduct user-centered research and validation activities: interviews, in-person observations, user testing
Articulate your own point of view in team discussions relative to current user experience projects
Begin to lead research and evaluation of emerging design, technology, industry, and market trends
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Science, Graphic Design/Media, Industrial Design, Information Systems, Information Management, Human-Computer Interaction; or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) or equivalent
Strong professional experience in product or service design OR Master’s degree with proven professional experience

Must be willing to travel
Knowledge of how shop floors work in manufacturing
Expertise in the agile development process
Experience working within a global enterprise organization
Leads participatory design activities (e.g. paper prototype co-creation, card sorting) to understand vision, business model and assumptions and tacit knowledge about user needs and behaviors.
Designs and conducts user research to understand user needs, mental models and working contexts
Synthesizes output of stakeholder research & creates visualizations that effectively summarize key insights related to user and customer needs and behaviors, product definition.
Creates annotated prototypes or wireframes of user interface designs that visually and textually communicate the behavior of a software application.
Skilled in standard design & wireframing tools (Sketch, Adobe InDesign, OmniGraffle, Sketch), hand drawing and visual communication, time-based and interactive prototyping tools (InVision, Axure, InVision).
Knowledge of current CSS/HTML standards
Provides design leadership within agile product development as an integrated part of a scrum team
Develops knowledge of business products, key processes, suppliers, customers and market/competitors.
Understands and stays up to date on the industry’s technology landscape; brings new ideas to the team. Maps industry technology trends to internal vision.
Strong understanding of Design Thinking and the principles of Atomic Design; the ability to articulate and effectively communicate the value of Design Thinking to others
Works to create an understanding of how individual people and things fit within larger structures (like systems or organizations), as well as the relationships between parts of a system and the system as a whole.
Understands and effectively contributes to the overall design process (research, concepting, design, build, measurement)
Demonstrates sensitivity to key cultural issues.
Committed mentor to more junior designers
Demonstrates the ability to extract and communicate how customer groups are thinking and feeling.
Asks questions appropriate to translating an abstract problem into a roadmap for identifying solutions.
