Role Summary:
The Service Project Engineer manages multiple projects across the following areas, equipment qualification, cost out, process/part improvement in support of the Surgery Service organizations business goals. Responsibilities include completing documentation and execution of projects associated with manufacturing and quality methods, tooling, parts, and equipment.

Essential Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities include:
  • Lead development, execution, and implementation of key projects that drive product or process improvement, product cost out, or simplification for Service Operations and used equipment segment
  • Drive improved product quality by identifying process issues through investigation and analysis of test failures (root cause analysis), develop cost-effective solutions, and oversee successful implementation of changes
  • Work with cross functional team to resolve process and part quality problems related to methods, processes, tooling, equipment and product design
  • Maintain regulatory compliance of service test equipment through Validation & Verification
  • Responsible for performing part or process qualifications when required, this includes development of plans, analysis criteria, execution, final analysis, acceptance, and implementation
  • Create instructions and procedures for using standard lab/test equipment to validate/accept reworked product (PCB and/or component/assembly level), develops test scenarios and test scripts
  • Support the qualification of area productivity improvement efforts, including testing, building fixtures, calibration, and data collection
  • Provide knowledge of test equipment set-up, functional operation, and interconnect of related equipment at system level
  • Troubleshoot test equipment hardware and software, to maintain equipment in functioning condition, and maximize up time
  • Assist and train test technicians when required, in troubleshooting and repairing returned parts and/or products
  • Develop test tools to improve productivity of test scripts support development and execution of automated test hardware/software as required

    Quality Specific Goals:
  • Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position
  • Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines
  • Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required
  • Knowledge and understanding of document control, design transfer, verification, validation, acceptance activity, DMR, DHR and electronic signature requirements to ensure that product, equipment, tools, processes, software, training and documentation meet requirements.

    Qualifications/Requirements:
  • B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical degree and minimum 2 years of relevant experience
  • Understanding and experience with testing procedures for electrical assemblies, components and/or systems

    Desired Characteristics:
  • A strong interpersonal skillset, including good technical communications
  • Good analytical and planning skills
  • Demonstrated hands on equipment test capability
  • Demonstrated ability to perform with high levels of ambiguity
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting data sets, high proficiency in excel
  • Previous project leadership, project management and project execution experience
  • Medical equipment testing and troubleshooting experience
  • Experience with root cause analysis and investigation
  • Experience with statistical data analysis tools, Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Software experience with LabVIEW, VB, Visual Studio, C is desired
