Role Summary:
As our new Director - Technical Product Management, you will be responsible for creating strong working relationships & influence across executive leadership, product management, engineering and other functional groups to execute the digital strategy for product lines that support the Security & Crisis, and Properties function.

Essential Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

  • Drives vision & strategy, roadmap and product lifecycle for sub business unit and its portfolio of products & solutions.
  • Participate in events and industry associations to influence the direction for the business and technology in the segment.
  • Be a domain/business expert for the portfolio to guide teams, establish/refine product management processes and build and mentor high performance teams.
  • Work cross functionally across engineering, marketing, sales, internal and external customers, analysts and senior management teams to formulate and execute the strategy.
  • Establish and manage relationship across GE businesses & sub-businesses, partners and customers at director level and above and technical expert levels across industries and geographies.
  • Establish strong working relationship with account managers, technical sales and user/developer community.
  • Global travel required as necessary.
  • Will have strong financial acumen and accountability.
  • The leader will report to Executive Product Management Director and responsible to create strong working relationship & influence across product management, engineering and other stakeholder groups to successfully execute business strategy across GE businesses, partners and customers.
  • Lead and develop a team of product managers who are business and domain experts.
  • Will engage customers at director level and above as a trusted partner.
  • Cross functional leadership to define and execute the vision and strategy.

    Qualifications/Requirements:

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, computer science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
  • A minimum of 10 years of technical experience along with established leadership credentials across disciplines and functions within a product

    Eligibility Requirements:

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. GE may agree to sponsor an individual for an employment visa now or in the future if there is a shortage of individuals with particular skills.
  • Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen
  • Must be willing to travel up to 10%
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Van Buren Township, Michigan

    Desired Characteristics:

    Technical Expertise:

  • Experience working with web applications such as Java, PHP, Python, JQueryUI, Ajax, etc.
  • Experience with Predix platform
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Excellent analytical skills – strong problem-solving skills, communicates in a clear and succinct manner and effectively evaluates information/data to make decisions; anticipates obstacles and develops plans to resolve.
  • Demonstrated customer focus – evaluates decisions through the eyes of the customer; builds strong customer relationships and creates processes with customer viewpoint.
  • Proven ability to execute high-profile projects and to provide thought leadership to the organization.
  • Experience with Service-oriented architectures.
  • Experience with Financial Systems and SOX.
  • Proven track record of finding and utilizing new technologies/tools to solve complex businesses problems.
  • Excellent team player – collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources.
  • Understanding of database technologies such as Oracle, MySQL or equivalent.
  • Change oriented – actively generates process improvements; supports and drives change, and confronts difficult circumstances in creative ways.
  • Excellent track record of understanding and interest in current and emerging technologies demonstrated through training, job experience and/or industry activities.

  • Demonstrates the initiative to explore alternate technology and approaches to solving problems
  • Skilled in breaking down problems, documenting problem statements and estimating efforts
  • Has the ability to analyze impact of technology choices
  • Demonstrates knowledge on technical topics, such as caching, APIs, data transfer, scalability, and security
  • Skilled in negotiation to align stakeholders and communicate a single synthesized perspective to the scrum team. Balances value propositions for competing stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the competitive environment
  • Demonstrates knowledge of technologies in the market to help make buy vs build recommendations, scope MVPs, and to drive market timing decisions
