Role Summary:
The Micrositing process & tools engineer actively participates in the design of the micrositing processes and tools, understands the need of the global micrositing community and listen to their feedbacks. She/He writes and validates algorithms for analyzing the wind resource, the mechanical loads calculations and for optimizing the electrical yield.

Essential Responsibilities:

As an integral part of GE, this critical engineering role in the front end of the business helps us understands the global and micro wind meteorology. Influences the turbine operation and production, and proposes solutions to fasten and consolidate the micrositing process, and to add value to our solutions for the customer.

In this role, you will:

  • Actively participate in the design of the WRA and MLA methods: understand the wind resource assessment and challenges current processes with the help of the global micrositing community. Looks for scientific solutions, proposes and implements new methods. Gathers dataset and creates metrics for validation
  • Understand the dataflow from raw measurements to the component checks, the different tools and their interfaces, and propose solutions to fasten the process.
  • Coordinates the development of our portfolio of applications. Defines and shares tool planning with all stakeholders and owns Input&Output
  • Develop solutions to increase customer value and enable digital wind farm optimization
  • Enhance GE’s digital wind strategy for speed, productivity and accuracy. Explore methods that utitilize mesoscale models to enable improved assessments of past and future site production and extended turbine life
  • Lead application engineering efforts to develop and evaluate methods to incorporate turbine operating data to complement pre & post construction met mast data and mesoscale models for wind resource and turbine siting. Support multi-layer data structuring and software development. Network with other WRA & MLA engineers for best practice sharing
  • Lead Process changes allowing the team to achieve "Fulfillment Excellence" thru on-time delivery with first time quality for all proposals. Mentor team members regarding WRA process and technology improvements


    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Science (Mechanical, Electrical, Physics, Atmospheric Science, Mathematics, Computer science or equivalent) from an accredited college or university
    • Demonstrated experience in scientific/engineering computing, data science
    • Demonstrated experience with Python (Numpy, Panda) and R (dplyr, ggplot) for scientific or engineering applications
    • Experience in software development and automation / digitalization experience
    • Strong proficiency in English, with multi-lingual capacity
    • Ability and willingness to accept challenges outside of technical expertise / comfort zone
    • Good background in Statistics
    • Strong written, oral, & presentation skills
    • EU Work Permit

    Non-national candidates are responsible to know the minimum documentation requirements to be able to be contracted in country: NIE- Social Security Affiliation Number in Spain (NAF) and Bank Account in Spain. They must be in possession of them at the time of start hiring. GE will not sponsor this requirement.

    Desired Characteristics:

    • Demonstrated interest for Digital technologies
    • Experience in machine learning, surrogate modelling, design of experiment, optimization (Genetic algorithm, multi-objective, gradient-based) or uncertainty quantification (monte-carlo) are a plus.
    • Familiarity with computer science tools (git) and methods (Agile programming, scrum) are a plus
    • Global experience with proven ability to work with international teams
    • Self-Motivated, Team player, with Demonstrated Creativity and Fulfillment
