Role Summary:
As an operations engineer, you are responsible for operational management of data center facilities, delivering continuous availability for GE applications. You will focus on ensuring data center compliance to standards process

Essential Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

  • Day to day operational functions related to data center
    environment
  • Provide strong leadership to the data center maintenance tea
  • Hold team accountable for delivering solutions to customer
  • Implement industry best practices while focusing on
    productivity and optimization of data center
  • Infrastructure
  • Engage, leverage, and drive simplified processes
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to produce
    high-quality content
  • Must be able to work in high stress situations and provide
    support a 24x7 team



Qualifications/Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information
    management or another technical IT field. OR 
    in lieu of a degree: a HS diploma/GED and a minimum 5 years of IT
    experience or equivalent  experience/
    training
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in a large-scale data
    centers. Including vendor performance management, ITIL process usage,
    relationship management, change management and a strong understanding of
    project management methodologies

Desired Characteristics:

  • Strong analytic skills to help with predictive analysis
    across the organization
  • Possesses understanding of core business processes and
    preparing financials to obtain project approval
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills and ability to
    work independently

 Technical Expertise:

  •  Broad knowledge of IT disciplines including compute, network
    and storage platforms
  • Experience with Chef, Puppet, Cloud Formation and/or other
    automated deployment methodologies
  • Deep expertise in emerging technologies like Open stack,
    Mesos, Docker, Scality, block/object store technologies, SDN, VMware and
    Virtualization technologies

 Business Acumen:

  • Strong Project management skills
  • EHS and crisis management experience or awareness
  • Experience in process management and improvement in a
    technical environment
  • Knowledge of industry best practices in data center
    management

 Leadership:

  •  Ability to coach, mentor and drive accountability within the
    team

 Personal Attributes:

  • Possesses excellent organizational skills and ability to
    work independently
  • Customer focused with strong written and verbal
    communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills: strong problem-solving skills;
    communicates in a clear and succinct manner
