Role Summary: The Electrical Hardware Advanced Lead Engineer demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals/programs/processes for Aviation Electrical Hardware development. Has the experience or expertise to solve problems. Able to develop and execute design work for aerospace electrical products.
Essential Responsibilities: In this role you will lead design activities for electrical products and systems. Activities will include the development of product requirements and definitions, detailed circuit designs and component selection.
You will also support projects through design reviews and will be available to provide technical advice to other departments, customers and suppliers, also will help to prepare the technical content of new product proposals to support bid activities.
You will integrate and verify products and systems, and supporting products through environmental and EMC qualification test. Additionally, you will be available to diagnose and fix design problems in existing products.
- Activities will include, but not be limited to: - - Design for safety, testability, and manufacturability - Define Hardware architecture - Select electronic components for rugged environments - Schematic capture - PCB area estimation, power dissipation, component stress - Troubleshoot electrical circuits - Perform Circuit Worst Case Analysis - Perform Electrical simulation - Support PCB design with EMC and manufacturability guidelines - Support mechanical design, software, test engineering, and manufacturing - Support qualification and acceptance testing-
Qualifications/Requirements: BS Electrical Engineering, plus 8 years of experience or Master’s degree plus 6 years of experience or PhD degree plus 4 years of experience.
- 4-6 years of experience designing electrical hardware for airborne or related applications - 6-8 years total industry experience
Experience defining requirements, developing specifications and selecting electrical components for power applications, and ability to work with suppliers to ensure technical requirements are met
Ability to diagnosis technical issues in Electrical Power systems and to develop practical solutions suitable for manufacture
You will be able to demonstrate leadership on complex technical problem solution as well as to check own and other people’s work
Also you will be able to demonstrate experience on improving design techniques and processes
- Capable of developing and writing specifications in an engineering environment - In depth expertise with CAD design tools - Familiarity with design, test and analysis tools and systems
Desired Characteristics: Development to DO-254 and DO-160 standards - Circuit Breakers, relays, wiring, etc. operation theory - Electrical panels design experience - Understanding of thermal issues associated with electrical systems - Experience coaching Engineers in Electrical Engineering design - Strong oral and written communication skills - Strong interpersonal skills - Highly motivated
