Role Summary: The Automation Technician Apprentice will service and maintain Lufkin Automation equipment under the direct supervision of the lead Automation Technician and/or Field Service Manager.
Essential Responsibilities: In the role of Automation Technician Apprentice you will:
Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical / electronic equipment
Perform on-site installation of electrical / electronic equipment, conduit, etc.
Use various electronic equipment and tools, including auto cranes, stud guns, etc.
Recognize and assess a variety of well optimization issues, either on own or by calling other technical specialists
Uphold and ahere to all GE Quality, EHS and Electrical Safety Standards
High School Diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution
Enroll and/or maintain active enrollment in State approved Apprenticeship program
Work overtime, weekends and holidays, as required
Be in the shop environment a minimum at least 6 hours per day, primarily standing and sitting, as required
Work with hands, arms and be extremely accurate
Lift objects weighing up to 40 ilbs.
Specific vision abilities are required by this job which include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
Work in a non-climate controlled environment and in all types of outside weather conditions
Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record
Basic computer skills, such as experience with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
Ability to work independently
Electrical / electronic equipment experience or education
Automation and instrumentation experience
Experience working with variable speed drives
