Role Summary:
As a Director of a software engineering group, you will apply your knowledge of technology, management, and software development methodologies to deliver quality software products. This position manages a global engineering team (Seattle WA, Burlington VT, Bangalore India) responsible for a cloud electronic data interchange system which processes millions of financial transactions between healthcare providers and payers.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and support high-quality, valuable
    releases of cloud-based healthcare financial transaction software. This
    software is at the heart of innovation to delivering on the promise of
    value-based care to improve health outcomes in a cost-effective way.
  • Provide technical, people, and process leadership.
  • Staff and develop a Lean/Agile, full-stack, cloud-proficient
    software development team.
  • Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver
    the valuable outcomes our customers desire.
  • Work with product managers and architects to develop
    software technology roadmaps
  • Work with product owners, UX, and directly with customers to
    understand business and technical needs
  • Ensure teams are aligned, with a rich understanding of
    customer/user context and value as well as an understanding of business models,
    key assumptions, strategies, and results
  • Communicate effectively with leadership, providing
    transparency to the status, quality, and throughput of work through metrics and
    reviews
  • Plan and manage budgets



Qualifications/Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors
    (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in the software domain or
    a Master’s Degree with 6 years of experience
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in an engineering leadership /
    management role
  • GE Leadership Program Graduates will get credit towards
    relevant work experience, commensurate to the program they have completed

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for
    employment visas, now or in the future, for this job
  • Must be willing to travel ~10%
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Seattle,
    WA



Desired Characteristics:

Technical Expertise:

  • Thorough understanding of cloud technology, and experience
    delivering cloud-native software applications with mature continuous deployment
    practices
  • Train and guide teams on Scrum, XP tech practices, SAFe
    release trains, and Lean Startup principles. Troubleshoots adoption efforts,
    and fosters continuous improvement.

Business Acumen:

  • Creates an engaging, energetic culture of customer focus and
    high performance to drive innovation
  • Evangelizes new technology and brings it to bear in service
    of customers
  • Experience with Healthcare EDI and/or Healthcare Revenue
    Cycle Management systems

Leadership:

  • Servant-leadership style, supporting teams by seeking to
    understand challenges and removing obstacles. Drives ownership/accountability
  • Identifies and champions good practices, tools, and ideas to
    improve execution and quality
  • Comfortable making decisions to pivot (in conjunction with
    cross-functional team) and lead the engineering resources to rally behind the
    business decisions
