Role Summary: The Data Engineering team helps solve our customers' toughest challenges; making flights safer, power cheaper, and oil & gas production safer for people and the environment by leveraging data and analytics. The Lead Data Engineer will work with the team to create state-of-the-art data and analytics driven solutions, working across GE to drive business analytics to a new level of predictive analytics while leveraging big data tools and technologies.
Essential Responsibilities: • Design & develop solutions using standard data migration methodology & tool-set for data extraction, mapping, scoping, transformation, validation & loads. • With minimal guidance and support, complete project deliverable. • Work in coordination with team of developers, driving on-time and quality solutions. • Lead & own a function module independently. • Participate and support data mappings working with functional champions & IT teams. • Partner with functional teams to identify and execute on opportunities for data quality improvements, enhancements, standardization and simplification. • Develop, document, pull together, and maintain data quality goals and standards. • Monitor compliance of information flows and data stores against data quality standards & methodology. • Identify areas for data quality improvement and help to resolve data quality problems through appropriate choice of error detection and correction, process control and improvement, or process design strategies. • Measure and report to management on the progress of the project & data quality improvement. • Drive problem management and establish knowledge repository. • Support project management methodology: tollgate reviews, design reviews, code reviews, detailed functional specifications, UI Specification, detailed technical design documents and risk assessments. • Leverage Data Quality CoE templates, tool-kits, best practices and COE strategies in project deliverable. • Creation of unit test plans and performing unit testing.
Qualifications/Requirements: technical / IT field, and a minimum 6 years of relevant IT work experience. • Data Quality tool experience - Backoffice Associates’ Cransoft/DSP Tool. • Strong programming skills & DBMS concepts. • Experience in MS SQL Server/Oracle SQL programming. • ERP Data Migration experience • Experience working in a global environment with offshore/onshore teams. • Strong analytical skills, oral & written communication skills. • Analytic, creative and business-focused problem solver. • Effective stakeholder management. • Strong team player. • Must be able to work across multiple GE businesses and functions, setting client expectations and delivering on them.
Desired Characteristics: • Experience/exposure of ERP implementation. • Knowledge of Oracle R12, SAP or any other ERP applications. • ABAP programming skills, BDC Scripts/LSMWs, SAP BW/BO, Cognos, Informatica, Unix • Green Belt certification. #DTR
