Role Summary: The Closing and Reporting Egypt Leader fosters accountability for the activities performed by Global Ops in the Egypt Center. He/She is responsible for operational and cross functional activities in the center to ensure effective and efficient closing and reporting.
Essential Responsibilities: • Build and leverage strong cross functional relationships both in the Egypt center and with key business stakeholders. Work with the business to understand the cost dynamics of the center teams and ensure productivity goals. • Responsible for C&R activities executed out to the Egypt Center and drives excellence in Controllership (e.g. adherence to GE policies, transfer of best practices, internal controls, etc.) • Provides on the ground technical accounting guidance to horizontal finance teams in Global Operations and works with the MENA and SSA C&R leaders to implement GE General Accounting Procedures (GAP/MAP) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) • Develop and provide accounting training as necessary • Manage/support the horizontal finance teams in the operational activities to ensure proper accounting documentation, preparation of appropriate accounting procedures and policies • Ongoing accounting simplification projects working closely with horizontal finance teams and ES • Strong focus on integration, policy and process harmonization • Drive controllership operating mechanisms and metrics reporting • Support compliance initiatives • Serve as a Controllership expert on ERP implementations • Ensure clear and timely communication to a diverse set of stakeholders as required • Oversee key controllership processes such as account reconciliations, quarterly balance sheet reviews, pre-close and site reviews to ensure effective controllership for the center
Qualifications/Requirements: • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college. • Minimum of 8 years of knowledge and experience within accounting or controllership • Experience working in US GAAP environment with direct engagement in technical issues • Understanding of tax related matters • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to work in cross functional / matrix environment at all levels of management and across business functions • Self-motivated, high energy with ability to prioritize & promote team work • Strong Clear-Thinking skills… analytical and problem-solving skills • Fluent in written and verbal English communication
Desired Characteristics: • External professional qualification (CPA equivalent) • Extensive knowledge of GE business operations or Big 4 experience • Ability to work in cross-functional and international environment and matrix organization • Strong interpersonal skills / Demonstrated team leadership ability • Ability to anticipate, identify, and resolve complex financial issues
