Role Summary:
 
Baker Hughes, a GE company has an opening for an Upper Completions Applications Engineer / Advisor supporting Completions at our Center for Technology Innovation (CTI) facility in Houston, TX.  The BHGE Upper Completions Group is looking for strong operational and technical personnel to work in their application engineering group to provide support to our operations and clients around the globe.
 
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Candidate would be a SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT or an ADVISOR of the Upper Completions product line.
  • Advises sales personnel, customers and potential customers on technical issues that affect the installation or sale of upper completions products and/or services of the organization.
  • Provides support to operations and manufacturing.
  • May assist sales personnel in the preparation of bids and meet with customers to develop and design products and services.
  • Also responsible for training customers and/or field personnel on new products.
  • Field Technical Support – advises sales personnel, customers, and potential customers on technical issues that affect installation or sales of products
  • Quotation/Tender Support – provide equipment specifications and proposal packages as needed
  • Perform Feasibility Study tasks, including layouts and calculations, in support of new opportunities 
  • Product Promotion – Create and maintain product presentations, catalogues, technical articles, competitor analysis, and intranet and internet materials.
  • Create and provide product presentations, training, and product design reviews for customers in support of sales opportunities
  • Product Training – Create, maintain, and conduct product training presentations for BOT employees at education centers and field locations
  • Project Management support for projects including coordination of activities across departments and locations
  • Develop and maintain product sales, installation, and reliability databases and conduct product reliability studies
  • Handle special projects as assigned by Product Line Director, Product Line Manager or AEG Manager
  • Develop both BHGE and customer relationships within assigned geographic region(s)
  • Ability to handle special projects as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 5+ years of experience in Completions and Production within the oilfield industry - operational, field, or technical experience
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical design, engineering layouts, engineering drawings, and calculations
  • General understanding of safety valve, packer and flow control product design, function, and application
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to identify problems and create innovative solutions
  • Demonstrated skill with Microsoft Office programs to include: Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint
  • Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
  • Travel to international locations in support of product is expected
  • This is a global support role and may require providing 24 hour technical product support for field operations and customers as projects require.
Desired Characteristics:
  • Upper Completions experience strongly preferred
  • In depth understanding of safety valve, packer and flow control product design, function, and application strongly desired
  • Project management skills to facilitate project completion between various departments and locations
  • Use of outputs from advanced analysis tools such as FEA and CFD
  • Understanding of various BHGE product lines with focus on upper completions
  • Demonstrated skill with 2D and/or 3D CAD software
