Role Summary: The Data and Analytics department at GE is a dynamic and exciting place to grow your technical career. The Data Engineer will work with large data sets in a complex warehouse and analytics tools environment. The Data Engineer will work hands-on with our architects and business partners in order to design, develop, and implement data structures and ETL scripts.
Essential Responsibilities: The Data Engineer, will be part of a data engineering or cross-disciplinary team involving large, complex data sets. These teams typically include software developers, engineers, architects, and end users, working in concert with partners in GE business units. • Development of ETL processes using PL SQL, Informatica & Unix scripts / jobs. • Develop technical design specifications and validate approach during internal reviews. • Performs a variety of data loads & data transformations. • Data warehouse development of schemas and joins to develop, enhance and support new / current data model/sources. • Perform unit testing and system integration testing in development environment. • Coordinate and validate code movement between development, QA & Prod with admin team. • Integration and knowledge transfer with the support organization. • Performs integration of multiple data source-formats into master data load.
Qualifications/Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in IT or IT-related field. • Minimum 5 years of data warehouse, SQL and / or ETL technical experience • Location: Bangalore, India
Desired Characteristics: • Should be adept in data warehouse concepts and new emerging industry trends. • Experience working with Informatica 9x. • Experience working with SQL, & PL SQL. • Experience writing Unix, Linux, and Batch scripts. • Knowledge of working in an iterative manner (in the spirit of Agile/SCRUM methodologies). • Willingness to learn technical concepts and drive efficiency within team. • Ability to balance multiple project teams, stakeholders, and priorities and to communicate with stakeholders where there are conflicts. • Experience working with business partners and balancing relationship with internal IT providers. • Knowledge of working with data privacy risks. • Translates analytics problems into data requirements. • Asks follow-up questions when presented with new data/projects.
