Role Summary: As the Safety Leader, you will help AiROS bring to market our next generation of innovative, industry leading products by leveraging your safety experience and team leadership skills to formulate competitive business strategies, build strategic industry / regulatory partnerships, create industry leading processes, develop and execute efficient and innovative project plans, and build a team of top industry safety experts.
Essential Responsibilities: In the role of AiROS Safety Leader you will:
Establish and implement a Safety Management System for AiROS
Develop and maintain highly efficient safety processes and standards and promote their consistent application across product development activities and flight operations
Interpret UAV regulatory material and determine safety impact, guiding programs to the most efficient safety approach
Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting safety activities across multiple sites
Oversee and assist with the execution of product safety programs to include:
generating safety program plans
performing safety assessments in support of both development projects and flight test activities o developing empirical and statistical models to characterize and predict system performance
generating safety requirements
and defining safety risk mitigation strategies
Foster a forward-looking safety culture focused on proactive engagement and issue prevention
Build strong working relationships with customers, suppliers, and certification agencies
Form engaged and meaningful teaming relationships with internal stakeholders and peers to enable team success
Steer future technology roadmaps by participating in technology, design and methodology trade studies, and research and development programs
Generate safety presentations and documentation needed for the business
Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and / or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
Growing technical talent within the Safety team and strengthening safety awareness across the broader engineering organization
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical, or Systems Engineering, or related technical discipline from an accredited college or university
Minimum of 7 years of experience in aviation safety
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job
Ability and willingness to travel as required
Familiarity with commercial and/or military aviation safety engineering practices and associated industry standards, policies and procedures
Familiarity with current civil UAV regulations and safety practices
Strong technical management experience including demonstrated track record of leading technical teams+
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute highly efficient safety programs
Familiarity with major aircraft subsystems, particularly Avionics and required safety implications
Extensive experience in safety analyses
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to guide and influence others
Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
Demonstrated success in a cross-functional team environment
Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
Demonstrated experience in lean / six sigma tools
Participation / experience on related industry committee activities
