Role Summary: The EHS Specialist is responsible for providing technical EHS support to comply with all regulatory and industry requirements applicable to GE Transportation. He should be experienced in implementing all the Local Reg. & Stat. and GE EHS requirements related to Equipment installation & commissioning, Integrated Management System and Operationalize programs supporting the business strategy. This is support role for the EHS Leader with an emphasis on H&S and will directly Report to EHS Leader.
Essential Responsibilities: • Serve as a Health & Safety expert for all applicable regulatory (i.e. Factory Acts, OSHA, EMS, BOCW act, Petroleum Rules and Regulations, SMPV, Central and Local state PCB, NBC, Fire Safety code, IS etc.) requirements & global industry standard (i.e. ANSI, NBC, ASME NFPA, etc.) • Primary responsible to put program for Equipment installation and commissioning, operation control process and procedure. Prior experience in implementing EHS process and procedure in large manufacturing unit will be preferred. • Support operation team in operating with a high level of efficiency, integrity and enthusiasm, striving to achieve excellence in all endeavors and provide adequate guidance and managing key High Risk areas which includes material handling, fall prevention, Pressure Vessels, Hot work, Electrical Safety, Gas Safety, STP & ETP operation etc. • Lead and support in assessment of risk related to activities, product, and services and control measures. • Enhance EHS awareness in employees by Developing and delivering EHS awareness programs. • Ensuring 100% compliance with all policy, procedures with all defined legal requirements, implementing GE EHS programs, meeting business expectations and ensuring continuous improvement; • Engage and influence leadership to achieve organizational objectives in matrix organization • Sustain a world class EHS program and safety culture • Able to simultaneously manage multiple projects and other responsibilities, adjust to changing priorities and to make decisions with speed and accuracy based on available information • Manage key performance Indicators (KPI) for the region and drive necessary efforts to achieve them • Lead incident investigations and drive closure of effective corrective/preventive actions • Analyze trends and performance, provide routine feedback, and drive actions to improve performance • Assure 100% completion of training, audits and other compliance aspects at the location • Interface with all environmental, health and safety regulatory agencies in order to assure compliance with local laws, permits and regulations • Routine data entry and management, writing and updating EHS procedures and miscellaneous office tasks supporting EHS programs. Utilize Gensuite tools where applicable. • Develop and maintain strong relationships with leaders and peers to achieve specified objectives
Qualifications/Requirements: • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering / Occupational Safety / Industrial Safety Engineering • Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in successful EHS program implementation and worked in Large Manufacturing industry. Experience in automobile sector would be preferred. • Strong knowledge of India related regulatory requirements, problem solving technique, Risk assessment. • Project management skills, communication, and interpersonal skills. • Ability to communicate using English (and local state language)
