Role Summary:
The Lead Engineer will be responsible for managing and leading the deployment of GE Transportation’s Trip Optimizer product across multiple customers and ensure the product meets or exceeds customer requirements and expectations.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Plan and execute projects at various customer work sites in the US and abroad, including the activities of cross-functional resources and subcontractors. 
  • Serve as the primary customer contact for the duration of each project through commissioning: Resolve specification issues, handle correspondence, provide periodic updates, ensure customer satisfaction, and negotiate / coordinate with cross-functional teams as appropriate 
  • Translate customer needs / requirements into detailed project plans while driving internal execution to meet project targets and ensure CTQ’s are met. 
  • Perform technical analysis in support of product deployment and performance monitoring to ensure customer satisfaction. 
  • Manage a network of resources (including contractors) in support of project execution 
  • Identify opportunities to expand the project in ways that bring value to our customer and satisfy our profitability requirements 
  • Participate in the development of proposals for projects 
  • Ensure that delivered products and services achieve highest quality and performance levels 
  • Work with cross functional engineering resources to develop system changes, create and deploy test plans, establish and execute training sessions / manuals and lead functional implementation and validation


Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university or college 
  • At least 4 additional years of experience in project execution or engineering 
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 15% of the time


Desired Characteristics:
  • Prior project execution experience with large-scale software projects and the ability to lead and motivate high potential technical project teams is preferred 
  • Knowledge in Locomotive Systems and Railroad Operating Practices  
  • Experience with Data/Information Systems 
  • Graphical Information System (GIS) Experience 
  • Experience in Data Analytics 
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills 
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills 
  • Proven ability to interact with customers successfully 
  • Railroad Industry experience 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel 
  • Proficiency with MATLAB
