Role Summary: To assure all construction and engineering activities in compliance with Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) requirements and standards of GE FM and local regulatory bodies. To establish EHS system and build EHS culture for the Guangzhou Site (GZS), and extend it to routine operations after closure of project.
Essential Responsibilities: 1. Provide accurate, compliant and timely support to the project to ensure that activities in the project and routine operations are in alignment with requirements and standards stipulated by GE, FM and applicable local regulations and laws. 2. Cooperate with other functional teams and contractors on Guangzhou site to establish good EHS System which is lean, effective and compliant, so that all EHS related activities and documentations are adhering to GE, FM and local policies during project period and future routine operations. 3. Lead, train, motivate and manage the performance of project and site employees. 4. Guide functional team to complete EHS related documents, prepare and approve all EHS related documents to meet applicable requirements. 5. Responsible for coordinating and supervising and auditing all EHS related activities on the site, not limited to construction and engineering operations, but site employees’ daily routine work, to meet EHS metrics, especially stretch target of ZERO injury. 6. Ensure preventative or mitigation plans and precautions in place at all time during construction and routine operations. 7. Prepare budget for EHS function and activities – human resources, overheads, licenses, permitting and necessary training. 8. Anticipate and plan for future requirements in the area, including but not limited to, procedural requirements, capital equipment planning, personnel recruitment planning, compliance requirements, efficiency developments and potential changes; reflect future demand for services from the function, and consequently build them in a timely manner in the budgeting process. 9. Set up challenging EHS goals on the site and work towards them jointly with other functions and stakeholders; report and check status regularly to keep the set targets reasonable and attainable. 10. Foster an environment of continuous improvement.
Qualifications/Requirements: Quality Specific Goals: 1. Bachelor of Science in Environmental, Civil, or Chemical Engineering, Hydro geology or Geology or related technical discipline. 2. Familiar with multi-disciplines of EHS and applicable regulations, such as CAA, CWA, OSHA, codes, etc., and capable of learning and applying them properly in project and routine operations. 3, Good communicator, collaborative and decisive as a team leader. 4. Skillful in both oral and written English. 5. Preferable to own professional certifications (PG, PE, LSP, etc). 6. Minimum 5 years supervisory\\management experience in EHS. 7. EHS working experience in pharmaceutical industry is preferable.
