Role Summary: The Gas Turbine Application Consulting Engineer will enable the global Commercial Application Engineering (CAE) team to efficiently develop customer appropriate and technically accurate control solution quotes for gas turbine and related rotating equipment and systems in the O&G and power gen industry. In this role, you will have direct interaction with and support of inquiry to order (ITO), sales, product development, and productization teams.
Essential Responsibilities: In the role of Gas Turbine Application Consulting Engineer, you will:
Lead development of complex integrated solutions, applying BHGE's family of control products and solutions to solve customer's problems on and around rotating and mechanical equipment
Enable global business to apply controls products and solution in the most accurate, appropriate, and competitive manner
Support proposal development through interpretation of complex specifications, completion of table of compliance, division of responsibility review, and interface with other technology experts for nonstandard solutions
Be the go-to expert to answer ITO and sales technical questions
Coordinate and perform technical training for global CAE team
Support sales team on key opportunities including developing and presenting solutions to customers demonstrating the value of GE's total solutions
Provide voice of customer and technical input / direction for new product introductions and productization
Act as the technical content owner of applicable quoting tools; align with product development, cost out, and productization activities
Work with functional and commercial teams in driving feedback for continuous improvement
Support technical assessment of current and emerging control related technologies
Support evaluation of new opportunities for risks to determine quote / no quote
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
Minimum 10 years of experience with gas Turbines in the Oil & Gas and/or Power Gen industries
Travel 25% of the time, as required
Master's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an accredited college or university
Exceptional communication and influencing skills
Six Sigma Green Belt / Black Belt / DFSS Certification or equivalent quality certification
Detailed working knowledge of GE rotating machine control system designs, hardware, and software applications, such as OptiComp Compressor Suite, Mark V, Mark VI, and Mark VIe
Design, application, manufacturing, and field experience, preferably in power generation and/or O&G market
Understanding of non-GE turbine and compressor control systems
Highly self-motivated with ability to meet goals within a matrix organizational environment
Proven technical writing skills
Experience with product development and processes
Experience in creating technical specifications
Strong organizational skills and excellent judgment
