Role Summary:

GE Digital CoreTech is seeking a Sr Enterprise Application Engineer who is a highly motivated, energetic, experienced technology professional. This role will be a key member of the Digital Workplace Technology team and will be responsible for designing, developing and supporting tools for support of server infrastructure (OS, storage, network, data protection, etc.) enabling the smooth operation of GE’s client management portfolio.

Essential Responsibilities:

Tools will include automation, monitoring and management tools to provide a more efficient framework to manage GE’s global infrastructure.

In this role, you will:

  • Architect and design sound/supportable technical solutions to complex business requirements
  • Evaluate requests for enhancements and determine potential impacts with the current system design/configuration
  • Maintain and apply current knowledge of information technology; keep abreast of new and emerging technologies; make technology, process, and application recommendations that can be used to lower costs, increase performance, and add value to the business.
  • Work with vendors to escalate support incidents as well as troubleshoot advanced technical problems
  • Provide support and maintenance of existing customizations and application functionality
  • Triage/debug production issues (Data, Code, Performance, Security, etc.), identify root cause and corrective actions
  • Partner with client, patching and endpoint management teams to assess their business needs and recommend IT solutions
  • Develop new Pages/Reports/Interfaces/Dashboards to reflect current system health
  • Develop new application enhancements and document system changes
  • Write technical specifications
  • Provide on-call support in partnership with L1/2/3 support teams
  • Review technical designs to ensure compliance with organizational standards


Qualifications/Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology/related field
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in IT Operations
  • Minimum 4 years of experience building, supporting and managing Windows operating systems

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job
  • Willing to travel <10%
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Miami, FL


Desired Characteristics:

  • Good understanding of Windows virtualization concepts with VMware ESX and Microsoft Hyper-V
  • Experience with building, installing and managing automation tools such as Tanium, Chef, Puppet, HP Server Automation (HPSA – aka Opsware) or other automation tools for server provisioning, patching and configuration management
  • Familiarity with Windows operating systems, including certification as a Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) in Windows 2012 and/or 2016
  • Experience working with Unix/Linux systems from kernel to shell and beyond, with experience working with system libraries, file systems, and client-server protocols
  • Technical knowledge of virtualization technologies including VMware & Openstack
  • Experience managing version control systems such as Git
  • Experience using an automated configuration management system (Terraform, Ansible, Salt, etc.)
  • Experience with network theory e.g. TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, etc., MAC addresses, IP packets, DNS, OSI layers, and load balancing; SND+
  • Extensive experience writing PowerShell and other scripting languages for automation tasks
  • Experience in Perl or Python would be a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly understand new concepts and analyze system deficiencies
  • Passionate about security and the quality of the applications they support
  • Organized, thorough, and detail oriented
  • Collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources
  • Eager to learn, shares ideas, encourages and accepts feedback well
  • Strong analytical skills – strong problem-solving skills, communicates in a clear and succinct manner and effectively evaluates information / data to make decisions; anticipates obstacles and develops plans to resolve
  • Interested in current and emerging technologies
  • Working knowledge of databases, including SQL and PL / SQL
  • Demonstrated customer focus – evaluates decisions through the eyes of the customer; builds strong customer relationships and creates processes from the customer's viewpoint
  • Experience working with an off-shore development team
  • High level of energy and enthusiasm, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced setting
