Role Summary: The Additive Manufacturing Engineer will develop DMLM/EBM technologies for aeronautical components, with focus on parts producibility and optimization of the printed part and printing process, as well as optimal design for additive.
Se/he will work in concurrence with the engineering design team to guarantee components producibility and design optimization on manufacturing constrains and process/cost improvement opportunities; extensive prototyping will be key in her/his contribution
She/he will support the definition of best practices and guidelines for parts printing from design / material and process / machine perspectives; again extensive prototyping will be key in her/his contribution
She/he will support machine operators in solving manufacturing problems and establishing best practices to operate the machines
She/he will support the identification and maturation of new applications and materials from both TRL and MRL perspective
She/he will define and optimize of the support structures of the printed components to fulfill dimensional and metallurgical design requirements while optimizing producibility, manufacturing process and part cost
She/he will contribute to the development and characterization of materials and processes as part of the introduction of new and more performing machines
She/he will contribute to the improvement of existing products by optimizing existing processes and identifying new opportunities of cost reduction
Master’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical, Materials or Aerospace Engineering preferred
Experience in mechanical design and technologies
Exposure to CAD systems, Unigraphics preferred
Ability to work successfully in team environment
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate at a variety of levels, from detailed design reviews to high-level leadership reviews
Demonstrated proficiency in written, oral, and presentation skills
Fluency in Italian and English
EU work permit
Available to travel and colocation periods in Avio plants (Rivalta, Cameri, others)
Passion for technical excellence and technology advancement
Able to self-manage workload across a number of designs
Self–directed and motivated
Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
Familiarity with engineering tools for mechanical analysis and data processing
