Role Summary:
In this role, the head of digital ops for Edge will drive and evolve the Predix Edge strategy taking into consideration Predix Platform & Apps strategy, market opportunities, individual BU/CDO needs in partnership with Product Management, forward looking innovation opportunities.

Essential Responsibilities:
In this role, you will:

Translate overall Predix Edge strategy to operational and organization priorities, including institutionalization of the roadmap in partnership with Product Management, translation of roadmap into features, functionalities and stories with the Edge TPM community, manage headcount/budget and capital allocation for Edge in partnership with the office of COO and Finance, provide advisory support to the Edge Engineering leader, drive operational excellence and organizational effectiveness and build rhythms & cadences to set us up for robust execution and customer excellence.

Strategic deliverables:
  • Collaborate with COO, Product Management, CMO office, Finance, HR, BUs to develop a holistic strategy and plan for Predix Edge
  • Manage the overall Predix Edge portfolio and investment in partnership with the finance lead and VP of Strategy/Ops
  • Partner w Product Management in translation of roadmap into features, functionalities and stories with the Edge TPM community
  • Drive focus and visibility into market analysis, opportunities to pursue, separate core vs. distraction and communicate in a lucid way to internal and external stakeholders
  • Set up robust operating rhythms and cadences that drive collaboration but are light weight and efficient. KPI development and cascading across org (in partnership with the COO, CFO and HR lead)
  • Drive (continuously) operational excellence and lean initiatives to provide simplicity, clarity and value to the organization
  • Have solid rubrics and frameworks to drive objective, data-driven decision making on
  • Evangelize new opportunities possible with investment; challenge status quo and drive data/digital disruption
  • Communication framework, delivery to get Edge engineering leads, product manager, enabling functions, advanced engagement etc. on the same beat.
  • Help solve larger organization/operational problems including roles/responsibilities across teams (internal and external), deal/mitigate audit findings, lead large scale operational initiatives
  • Forge a strong partnership with peer groups across other parts of Predix and GE
  • Champion program level support on large initiatives such as OE, service level agreement, cloud optimization, pricing/cost to serve monitoring involving cross-functional engagements
  • Identify and track engineering metrics that align with business metrics and amplify when course corrections need to be made.
  • Coordinate with Predix COO team to enable release planning, capacity planning & velocity through Rally/Jira for effective release planning
  • Alignment on engineering planning tool (Jira/Rally) & collaboration platform (Predix wiki/Atlassian wiki)

    Operational deliverables:
  • Build & operationalize the product lifecycle process by standardizing release process, roles & responsibilities, tool & roadmap hierarchy, reporting.
  • Identify and track engineering metrics that align with business metrics and amplify when course corrections need to be made.
  • Coordinate with Predix COO team to enable release planning, capacity planning & velocity through Rally/Jira for effective release planning
  • Alignment on engineering planning tool (Jira/Rally) & collaboration platform (Predix wiki/Atlassian wiki)
  • Forecast, plan and continuously manage the engineering budget and work with engineering leaders to ensure investments are being made to execute business strategy.

    Qualifications/Requirements:
    Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree, or foreign degree equivalent, in STEM major (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics)
  • A minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible post-Bachelor’s degree related experience OR Master’s degree, or foreign degree equivalent, in management AND 6 years of related experience.

    Eligibility Requirements:
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. GE may agree to sponsor an individual for an employment visa now or in the future if there is a shortage of individuals with particular skills.
  • Must be willing to travel (10%)
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in San Ramon, CA

    Desired Characteristics:
    Operational deliverables:
  • Channel all third-party licenses & professional service requirements through sourcing resources/systems to drive compliance (No PO, No Pay) & accounting visibility
  • Drive increased interaction between leadership & engineers through all hands, town halls, staff meetings etc.
  • Drive global growth and expansion through talent and cost management. Change management will be an inherent part of this deliverable.
  • Providing full visibility and enable financial rigor on overall operating costs.
  • Create & publish organizational metrics such as HR, finance & adoption as performance indicators
  • Drive OE deliverables including RCA, monitoring, change control, etc.

    Program & Release management deliverables:
  • Drive weekly engineering execution review and help identify risks and enable mitigation.
  • Monitor and complete release checklists for key product releases.
  • Review compliance requirements within organization and ensure alignment with broader compliance goals.
  • Enable rally reporting at all engineering layers to drive consistency, provide data based outcomes, enabling early roadblock visibility and quality control
  • Operationalize org wide Agile model and enable service owners to follow agile practices more stringently through effective coaching and retrospectives

    SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
    2-3 years of experience with:
  • Project/Program management or Consulting experience for IT/SDL/Cloud delivery projects including project planning, risk management and resource planning.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies including Extreme Programming (XP), Scrum, Lean development, and Feature-Driven Development (FDD).
  • Internet of Things (IoT) platform. SaaS, Microservices, Applications software development.
  • Software development life cycle of Cloud-based products, including design phase, development, testing and quality assurance, load tests, and production development.
