Role Summary:
Sr Staff Network Operations Engineer responsible to develop and maintain automation tools which will help ramp up cloud deployments. Predix connectivity delivers a secure end-to-end connectivity via cellular, fixed & satellite. The role will routinely review, analyze, recommend and develop inhouse tools for deployment and visibility improvements ensuring that the Network can scale with the needs of the applications and services riding on it.

Essential Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

  • Gather & review the end customer network requirement for
    connecting the various bidirectional
  • Apply technology and operational best practices in
    designing, development and implementation standards and capabilities to enable
    highly available, scalable and reliable
  • Plan and execute the approved network design in a specific
    change window
  • Monitor and optimize network performance and assure network
    security in a high availability environment.
  • Work with telecom providers to report, troubleshoot, and
    resolve WAN related issues.
  • Enforce and execute user policies and procedures regarding
    the use of network resources.
  • Coordinate 24/7 support team comprised of GE employees and
    vendors. Coach and train, and support with high-complexity tasks
  • Provide on-call support

 



Qualifications/Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors
    (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience supporting large enterprise
    network infrastructure

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will

  • Willing to travel 10%
  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Atlanta,
    Ga



Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience in managing High Available systems
  • Ability to function well in an environment of multiple high
    priorities and implementation requirements
  • Strong verbal communications to customers detailing incident
    resolution and root-cause resulting from an outage or service interruption.
  • Strong interest in current and emerging technologies
    demonstrated through training, job experience and/or industry activities.
  • Proven ability to execute on large-scale global programs
    composed of multiple projects or work streams.

Technical Expertise:

  • Routing expertise – Cisco & Juniper routers and switches
  • Routing: BGP, OSPF, with hands-on experience managing
    Enterprise WAN
  • VPN: MPLS, IPsec Tunnel, OpenVPN
  • Firewall: Palo Alto, Cisco ASA
  • Infoblox DNS & IPAM solutions
  • Experience designing/implementing/supporting Cisco ASA
    firewall, F5 LTMs, proxy solutions, and 
    cloud based applications.

Business Acumen:

  • Certification: Desired: CCNP/JNCIP-ENT with hands on
    knowledge; Preferred: CCNP-Security/JNCIPSecurity
  • Experience in building scalable and highly available
    distributed networks
  • Previous experience of having worked with Agile
    methodologies a plus

  • Demonstrates clarity of thinking to work through limited
    information and vague problem definitions
  • Influences through others; builds direct and "behind
    the scenes" support for ideas
  • Proactively identifies and removes project obstacles or
    barriers on behalf of the team
