Role Summary: Baker Hughes a GE Company seeks a full time Toolmaker position for our Tooling Team. This position requires a highly skilled candidate capable of producing intricate jigs & fixtures for our production and repair operations. This candidate will coordinate with a cross-discipline development team to develop the most advanced hand-held remote visual inspection (RVI) equipment in the world.
Essential Responsibilities: In the role of Toolmaker, you will:
Build, assemble and modify tools from prints, sketches and verbal instruction. Constructs prototypes for R&D
Help enforce EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) procedures. Close interaction with engineers and production personnel important
Require the programming, set-up and operation of all Tool Room equipment, such as lathes, mills, grinders, CNC equipment, TIG welder and any other related equipment
Apply creative machining methods to fabricate miniature parts, with the ability to use a microscope and (or) Smart Scope measurement machine for final inspections
Convert and/or assist with the translation of drawings to a Proto Trak CNC mill & lathe/Cam works/3D Printer
Machine and finish a multitude of tools from drawings with minimal supervision
Support Production requirements as needed, including troubleshooting of tooling and production equipment
Interact with Engineers, Designers and Technicians to review and clarify job requirements
Associates Degree from an accredited college or university (OR High School Diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution with a minimum of 5 years of experience in toolmaking)
Minimum 3 years of experience in toolmaking
Work overtime, weekends, may be required
Be in the shop environment a minimum of 8 hours per day, primarily standing and sitting as required
Lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs
Toolmaker Journeyman’s Accredited Certificate
Proficiency with programing, set-up, and operation of CNC and manual machines
Knowledge of 3D CAD software (Solidworks preferred)
Use of Cam works & 3D Printing is a plus
Computer Skills including SAP, Outlook, Word and Excel
