Role Summary: The Edison Engineering Development Program (EEDP) is an intensive program for people who have a passion for technology, a drive for technical excellence, and share in GE's core values. The program is designed to accelerate participants' professional development through intense technical training and a variety of business-critical assignments. Edison graduates have the technical and business foundation to proactively and continually make innovative contributions to GE's future.
Essential Responsibilities: EEDP's at Aviation experience technically challenging rotations that are driven by innovation. Edison Engineers are currently working to develop the Aviation Industry's leading technology and design of world class Jet Engines. EEDP's learn how GE approaches the design of products using Six Sigma methodology and learn to work closely with employees in a variety of engineering disciplines to integrate product designs with manufacturing processes and ensure that GE's products/services meet customer needs. The core engineering skills gained in assignments are enhanced through advanced courses in engineering. Corporate courses are also provided. Experience and training combined with mentoring and guidance from assignment managers, prepares members with the technical skills and values needed to achieve a successful career in technology. Our EEDP's work will be among engineering areas including Detailed Design, Analysis, Thermal Systems Design, Manufacturing Engineering, and Repair Engineering.
Qualifications/Requirements: • Bachelor or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, Material Science Engineering similar, or similar disciplines • Prior intern, co-op, or research experience in design engineering or manufacturing • Strong commitment to a career in technology and a passion for engineering • Demonstrated an analytic approach to problem solving • Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate technical problems in clear and simple terms. • Strong team skills with demonstrated leadership skills. • Excellent command of written and spoken English
Desired Characteristics: Preference will be given to persons:
•Majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, or Material Science Engineering, that have prior intern, co-op, or research experience in the Aviation Industry, jet engine / propulsion system design, aircraft design, or high temperature metals; •That have a GPA greater than or equal to 3.0/4.0 overall •That have demonstrated program / project management skills working on and leading teams
