Role Summary: We are creating a new digital function focused on speed, reuse and outcomes. We are bringing together expertise and domain knowledge from IT, engineering and software development, blurring the lines on how we’ve traditionally defined these roles. You will lead, consult or oversee multiple architectural engagements working on multiple Products as a technical expert. You will work on highly complex initiatives that require in-depth knowledge of the domain.
Essential Responsibilities: In this role you will:
Lead and coordinate the technical and business discussions relative to future architect direction across multiple teams or complex applications infrastructure.
Analyze, design and develop a roadmap and implementation plan based upon a current vs. future state in a cohesive architecture viewpoint.
Review and/or analyze and develop architecture at domain level and across multiple teams.
Participate in the business-wide Infrastructure architecture and domain governance model.
Contribute to the development of software, data, and technology.
Contribute to the designs and deployment of infrastructure solutions meeting standardization, consolidation, TCO, security, regulatory compliance and application system qualities , for different businesses.
Lead the research and evaluation of emerging technology, industry and market trends to assist in project development and/or operational support activities to for multiple teams or complex scenarios.
Provide leadership, technology guidance and mentors others throughout the domain.
Qualifications/Requirements: Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in Networks/Software/Automation OR a Master’s degree with 5 years of relevant experience or a PhD with 2 years relevant experience

Willingness and ability to travel 20-30% of the time.

Desired Characteristics: Technical Expertise:
Lead/Participates in enterprise infrastructure strategy development, including environmental analysis, opportunity identification, value cases and business innovation portfolio development.
Reviews and/or analyzes and develops infrastructural architectural requirements at domain level, aligning architectural requirements with software development strategy.
Software engineering/development background with at least 5+ years’ experience in large distributed systems, infrastructure or network automation and web services Background/Knowledge of IP Networking, Datacenter Network technologies, Internet Routing Protocols (BGP, GRE, IPSec, VxLAN, Dot1Q, QinQ, 40G/100G futures, DNS, netflow, etc)highly desirable.
Experience with whitebox/OpenNetwork based Architectures
Proficiency at programming in Python and/or Java
Well-versed in development in Software Defined Networking and controllers like OpenDaylight, openvSwitch
Strong knowledge of API design such as Netconf, RESTful API as well as configuration management tools such as CHEF, Ansible
Hands-on experience with CI technologies: Jenkins/TravisCI, and with CD technologies: Ansible/Terraform
Expertise of network virtualization technologies, SDN technologies, or OpenStack Neutron-related open source projects
Good knowledge of data models, relational databases, NOSQL and a general understanding of cloud development principles such as loose coupling, separation of services, micro-services
Familiarity with load balancing platforms and technologies, firewall platforms, switching and routing platforms, or open source initiatives.
Strong focus on complete automation and delivering highly available solutions for highly demanding requirements (devops).
Ability to accomplish goals independently - highly result oriented, strong team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Create, analyze and manage projects that provide direct business benefit;
demonstrate detailed knowledge of business operations and strategic direction, including merger & acquisition opportunities;
understand industry trends and competitive landscape and the implications for your GE business;
partner with business leaders to align projects with business goals and needs.
