Role Summary: Avio Aero is reinforcing the focus to excellence in aeronautical Mechanical Transmissions with particular focus on power applications (turboprop and helicopter power gearboxes). In this spirit, we are looking for a talented and experienced engineer, expected to perform design activities related to gears and shafts of aeronautical mechanical power transmissions.
Essential Responsibilities: The position is within the Engineering Section dealing with all external Customers (3rd Parties) and requires to follow the whole new product introduction process, from concept design to product detailed definition, certification and initial production support. The Gears and Shafts Design Lead Engineer utilizes experience and expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to affect short-term and some long-term business goals. In particular he/she will:
Provide and strengthen technical knowledge expertise in gears and shafts for aeronautical power gearboxes
Develop sub-system and components design to achieve the performance, generating alternatives and down-selecting optimal solutions
Capture system requirements, flow-down to components definition identifying related validation needs
Proactively support and coordinate activities with other departments and suppliers (e.g. concurrence design)
Contribute to and participate as a presenter in technical and program reviews
Issue the technical documents relative to the components design according to engineering policies and procedures
Support source technological substantiation and MRB activities
Support activities related to development and fielded components performance and investigations
Use of design tools: CAD as Unigraphics NX, and CAE as Nastran, Ansys, LTCA and in-house S/Ws
Master Degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university;
Previous proven experience in mechanical transmissions;
New Product Introduction process experience;
Experience with CAD tools (e.g. Unigraphics NX);
Experience with CAE tools (e.g. Nastran, Ansys) and LTCA specific tools;
