Role Summary:
The Lead Controls Engineer is responsible for the validation of software for the Offshore Wind Turbine Controls Team. Software validation is a key area for ensuring product quality and meeting business objectives. This role will coordinate with controls and systems teams in software design, failure mode identification, and root cause analysis.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Overall ownership of the software validation process and toolchain
  • Lead the development of a software validation lab for Offshore Wind, to test all software releases prior to factory/field introduction
  • Identify controls failure modes and develop proper test procedures to validate robust operation through these modes
  • Understand full software and system requirements, to ensure software design meet business and customer objectives
  • Identify new failure modes and software bugs, along with root cause identification, to improve the quality of software releases
  • Execute software test procedures in virtual, software in the loop, and hardware in the loop environments
  • Lead the development and execution of Factory Acceptance Testing for Controls in manufacturing for new controls releases
  • Develop tools and framework for regression testing for automated controls software validation


    • Masters of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science
    • Strong experience in an engineering capacity
    • Significant experience with controls design and validation
    • Fluency in English
    • EU Work Permit

    Non-national candidates are responsible to know the minimum documentation requirements to be able to be contracted in country: NIE- Social Security Affiliation Number in Spain (NAF) and Bank Account in Spain. They must be in possession of them at the time of start hiring. GE will not sponsor this requirement.

    Desired Characteristics:

    • Significant experience with Profinet or EtherCAT communication protocol
    • Matlab Simulink experience
    • Mark Vie experience
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Problem analysis and resolution skills
