Role Summary: GE Digital is seeking a Staff Interaction Designer to join the GE Global Functions IT team to help envision exceptional digital experiences across the organization. In this role you will lead UX strategy and execution for multiple complex products and projects, requiring in-depth learning across specialized business domains. The ideal candidate has experience in all aspects of interaction design, user research and the ability to facilitate UX discussions at all levels of the organization.
Lead and influence business-wide discussions relative to current user experience projects and the future direction of product design and user experience.
Guide effective documentation and communication of design – via wireframes, mockups, prototypes and user stories
Lead research and evaluation of emerging design, technology, industry, and market trends.
Adopt a product mindset to help drive vision for applications as products across teams. Lead research and exploration to define solutions that will build better relationships between products and primary customers
Play the role of product storyteller throughout the development process. Ensure that product development phases are persona driven and continuously map back to customer needs.
Manage multiple small to large projects, develop and execute project and resource plans and provide regular status updates to team and cross-functional stakeholders
Bachelor’s Degree in Interaction, Graphic, or Industrial Design or Psychology/Human Factors, preferred or a related field. in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)
Minimum of 5 years of combined experience in, user interaction design, visual design, user-centered research processes and methodologies, leading or executing IT projects/or agency design projects.

A portfolio (web or PDF) clearly demonstrating your facility with the different aspects of User Experience
Exposure to and experience with latest web and mobile technologies: HTML5, XHTML, CSS3, and JQuery and other mobile frameworks
Uses participatory design activities (e.g. paper prototype co-creation, usability testing tools and methods) to understand vision, business model and assumptions and tacit knowledge about user needs and behaviors.
Understanding of persona development and journey/experience mapping to provide an in-depth understanding of customer’s needs goal and pain points.
Synthesizes output of user and stakeholder research & creates visualizations that effectively summarize key insights related to user and customer needs and behaviors, product definition.
Creates annotated prototypes or wireframes of user interface designs that visually and textually communicate the behavior of a software application.
Skilled in standard design & wireframing tools (Adobe CC, Sketch, Axure), hand drawing and visual communication, time-based and interactive prototyping tools (InVision)
Familiarity with working in Agile/Lean UX, test driven development, environment
Develops knowledge of business domains, products, key processes, suppliers, customers and market/competitors.
Understands and stays up to date on the industry’s technology landscape; brings new ideas to the team. Maps industry technology trends to internal vision.
Understands principles of design thinking, what it is and why it is important. Explores all ideas, regardless of their source.
Works to create an understanding of how individual people and things fit within larger structures (like systems or organizations), as well as the relationships between parts of a system and the system as a whole.
Understands the value of a rigorous, collaborative and transparent decision-making process.
Demonstrates sensitivity to key cultural issues
Uses generative techniques (sketching, brainstorming, etc.) to establish a variety of possible design decisions and decision scenarios.
Expresses UX and design concepts to collaborators on cross functional teams. Goes beyond merely presenting designs, explains the story of the rationale and benefit of design ideas.
