Role Summary: As Sr. Infrastructure Architect for GE’s ERP platforms, you will be responsible for administering and supporting the hardware, and operating systems of Oracle Exadata, Exalogic, ZFS, ZDLRA appliances and PCA infrastructure running mission critical ERP applications of GE.
In this role, you will:
You will provide team and project leadership, applying technical skills to support a large shared Oracle engineered systems environment
In this technology-focused role, you are expected to leverage your prior knowledge and experience to develop and manage procedures, plans and policies for hardware and operating systems.
You will be responsible to provide evaluation, architecture, integration and tuning skills to implement and support technology stack and components of Oracle engineered systems.
Install, upgrade, configure, tune, and debug the components of the Oracle Engineered Systems (Exadata/Exalogic/PCA/ZFS/ZDLRA) technology stack
Participate, share, collaborate and deliver in high performance infrastructure and database teams to manage infrastructure running large, complex mission critical ERP and data warehouse environments for GE
Plan and execute requirements to stay current on the latest releases of Oracle Exadata, Exalogic, ZFS, ZDLRA, and PCA
Implement and manage High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions to mitigate risks and increase application availability
Identify and lead automation of repetitive processes to minimize errors and maximize delivery of services
Contribute to overall capacity planning and configuration management of the infrastructure landscape
Work with security teams to promptly address security vulnerability issues protecting ERP applications, database, infrastructure and technology stack
Document processes and cross-train team members within both an onsite and offsite resource model
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a technical area (Architecture, Software, or Information Technology) or (a high school diploma / GED with at least 8 years of experience in Information Technology or Software).
5+ years of “Hands-On” experience as a LINUX or UNIX administrator, exposure to OS installation, patching, upgrades, security, LDAP directory integrations, storage administration, backup and recovery
5+ years of experience supporting high availability and disaster recovery solutions
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. GE may agree to sponsor an individual for an employment visa now or in the future if there is a shortage of individuals with particular skills.
Must be willing to travel < 5%
Must be willing to work out of an office located in Atlanta, GA or Schenectady, NY
Previous experience with Oracle Engineered Systems (Exadata/Exalogic/ZFS/ZDLRA/PCA) and OVM
Previous experience working with hardware vendors on procurement, install, and support of IT infrastructure
Previous experience coaching a team of contractors, working with vendors for 24x7 support and operations
Basic understanding of IT Infrastructure life cycle management, ITIL standards and processes
Strong oral and written communication skills
Experience establishing policies, product, operating standards and runbooks
Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities
Must be comfortable with change and actively driving improvements
Proven analytical and problem resolution skills
Proactive responsible individual, able to set own action plans
Ability to influence and build consensus with other IT teams and leadership
Demonstrated coaching, feedback, developmental opportunities, etc. to direct or indirect reports within broader team
Experience of supporting e-Business suite on Oracle Engineered Systems (Exadata/Exalogic/ZFS/ZDLRA/PCA) a plus
Experienced in Database design skills for Oracle On Line Transaction Processing (OLTP) as well as experience in Oracle 11g/12c Database Administration skills including implementations, upgrades, and performance tuning (SQL, OEM, and PL/SQL) and expertise through 10g, 11g and 12c release levels
