Role Summary: The role is part of the wind product and design process, within the Land Constrained Electrical Engineering Team. This role is a global engineering role and essential for successful, high quality NPI execution, fulfillment and field issue resolution. The scope of the team includes electrical systems and components for GE wind turbines. The range of components span generators, power cables, medium voltage switchgears, transformers, electrical control cabinets etc.
Essential Responsibilities: • Execute engineering design work on wind turbine medium voltage components like transformers, switchgears, power cables etc. and integrate them into the electrical system of GE onshore wind turbines. • Full component ownership. Starting with the definition of characteristics across technical clarification, interface definition, prototyping, testing, and introduction into manufacturing up to field issue resolution. • Definition and control of complete technical documentation of medium voltage components and subassemblies, including specifications, bills of material, drawings, 3D-models, and schematics. • Ensure compliance of components and their use to international codes and standards. • Work with global and cross-functional teams to leverage ‘Best Practice’ for electrical component testing and validation procedures. • Work with Wind Platform teams and ITO/OTR to understand market needs, execute the cost out project and design to customer order project. • Preparation of design / analysis documentation, e.g. Design Practices, design record book articles, Work Desk Instructions (WDI), etc. • Support Sourcing organization for new supplier qualification and supplier audits. • Support root cause analysis on technical issues. • Work closely with the Technical Leaders and global team members to ensure high quality and on-time delivery for all engineering assignments.
Qualifications/Requirements: • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. • 3+ years’ experience working with medium voltage electrical components, applications and practices. • Familiar with international codes and standards. • Positive mindset with good verbal and written communication skills. • Ability to work in a cross-functional and global environment. • Willingness to travel.
