Role Summary: The primary objective of the Plant Black Belt is to lead the Lean Six Sigma improvement process. Through this, the Plant Black Belt will ensure process improvements, productivity improvements, and cost reductions. This will be accomplished by leading, motivating, and influencing project teams in order to implement the Lean Six Sigma vision.
Essential Responsibilities: As a part of Plant Management, the Plant Black Belt will conduct all Lean Six Sigma and CI activities with understanding of how they affect other related disciplines in plant operations. The Plant Black Belt will integrate a deep knowledge of theory and organizational practice within plant operations.
As the Plant Black Belt, you will:
Provide leadership and direction to cross-functional teams empowered to execute the Lean Six Sigma strategy for process improvement, productivity improvement, and cost reduction
Work with the local management team and Lean Six Sigma community to identify, define, and prioritize a portfolio of projects, ensuring work aligns with strategic goals
Simultaneously lead and complete multiple cross functional Lean Six Sigma projects, often with high complexity and impact
Define and obtain the necessary data, and then calculate the impact of project improvements on operating metrics such as cycle time and defect rate
Incorporate project metric improvements into operating budget plans (ROI, target savings, budget, etc) and forecasts
Maintain appropriate documentation, including project charter, progress updates, and final reports, to capture and communicate learnings to enable best practice replication
Facilitate, train, and coach team members in the use of Lean Six Sigma tools
Deliver breakthrough levels of improvement in process capability and reengineering business processes to reduce cost and increase productivity
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering)
Minimum of 10 years of strong experience in Process Improvement, led or co-led a minimum of 3 full-cycle Six Sigma, Lean Six Sigma, and/or Lean projects
Ability and willingness to travel both international and domestic 20% of the time
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification
Knowledge of Quality Systems (ISO)
Demonstrated project management skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Ability to influence others and lead small teams
Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact
Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
Effective problem identification and solution skills
Proven analytical and organizational ability
