Role Summary: You will be accountable for hand-on technical leadership of a software & analytics team in Digital Marine Solutions, part of GE Power. This includes hands-on coding, unit/system testing and actively guiding the development team to meet requirements, performance, quality and scalability.
Essential Responsibilities: • Be the single-point accountable person for software development to delivery • Provide hands-on development and management for Digital Marine Applications team • Work with development team to implement the software per Agile methodology • Leverage best in class, approved technologies and methodologies to ensure differentiated software solutions • Identify opportunities to improve existing parts of the solution to bring them up to date with latest technology advances • Ensure a product-centric approach to software development – abstracting any specifics, ensuring modularity, field configurability and low-touch deployment • Strive to achieve intuitive user experience through continuous improvement for simple use-model with a ‘minimalistic’ approach
Qualifications/Requirements: • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in software engineering OR Master’s degree with 8 years of experience in software engineering OR PhD with 5 years of experience in software engineering. • Minimum 1 year of experience in an engineering leadership / management role #DTR

Technical Expertise: • Minimum of 4 years’ direct experience working with cloud production environments • Experience building systems based on cloud technology in AWS, GCE, and/or Rackspace environments • Experience building scalable Web applications • Experience working with Big Data Analytics applications • Configuration management experience with one or more configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef, and/or Ansible • Experience with container technologies • Demonstrated coding skills, preferably in Python, Ruby, and/or Java • Demonstrable knowledge of TCP/IP and HTTP protocols • Experience working with High Availability and Fault Tolerant architectures • Familiarity Relational and NoSQL databases • Experience working with Monitoring tools like Nagios, Graphite • Experience working in Unix/Linux operating systems and shell scripting • Well-developed analytical skills • A strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive • Ability to work independently and collaboratively • Familiar with Agile methodologies • Familiarity with Salesforce Cloud offerings • Experience working with AWS DevOps Automation and Programming Tools • Experience implementing Cloud-bases Access Management Services • Experience working in a PAAS environment
